We went to Waterbom particularly for the Flowrider which my son had done in Cairns at the local swimming pool on a previous trip. You can only book this experience once inside the park. Go straight there, as they get nooked out. Every session is 30 min for 125k or 200k for 1 hour. Maximum of 10 people on each side of the flow rider which us split down the middle by a blow up partition. People queue up and take turns. Once you fall, you are off and join the back if the queue. It is very popular. The instructors are great. They have boogieboards and wake board type boards. It is the opposite of surfing, so non surfers will do better here, as you put your entire weight in your back foot like snowboarding which is counter intuitive for surfers. 30 min are not long enough to get he hang of it but long enough to have some fun. Careful on how you fall (and you will fall a lot), my son ended up with a very sore neck and back afterwards. See more..

This crazy street ran parallel to our accommodation, and so we walked up and down it a lot. It was never, ever dull and every time you go on it. You see something different. It was the centre of everyone as our evenings. Choose from one of the bars, happy hours, take a seat at the front and watch the chaos that ensued. How there is not a road, rage incident every couple of minutes, I do not know. Certainly, back home, people would not show the same amount of tolerance or patience, and it is nice to see. There are lots of bars and restaurants of varying quality and the usual amount of totes, trying to sell you anything from Viagra to corn on the cob! At high tide the waves are strong and it is hard to surf for a beginner. At low tide it's good to learn and you can get a local instructor there. As far as shopping goes there isn't much you wouldn't find on Garlic Lane! From Bali Kmart to Hollywood Optical to several smaller markets stalls the shopping is amazing! Bali Kmart is fixed price if you don't like haggling along with Ketuts fixed price shop which is the last stall on the right of the laneway when entering Bali Kmart. There are many really good restaurants as well. The Lokal, Garlic Lane, Blue Moon, Roesemary's and Legends Bar just to name a few. I really enjoyed sitting at the Lokal just people watching. Great atmosphere and I found we didn't get hassled too much to buy things. See more..

To be able to just relax with family and friends as the day ends is one of the reasons we love coming to the beach. We parked ourselves (6 of us) at Bar 7, Randit Bar. Much has changed since COVID. Many have lost their space and they are trying to re-build. Everyone seemed so grateful to have us back visiting. Randit provided great service and while we would have not previously paid for a massage on the beach, we just did. It was more expensive that going into a massage place but they have had it tough and we only just arrived. It was a lovely sunset and we had fun to end our 1st night back in Bali. There are comments regarding the rubbish.....we would like to say that compared to our last visit 3 years ago, we have noticed less rubbish and more bins available. We shall be back :) See more..

Very few tourists evident and it's probably fair to say that all businesses seemed to be struggling. The absence of the cacophony of sound from traffic lent an eerie feeling at times. Restaurants, shops and stallholders were struggling. There have been a few changes in the square since our last visit, Sendok restaurant & bar has relocated here, renovations under way in a couple of former vacant premises, a sign of optimism for the future, perhaps.
