- 4.5 Old Town Hall (334 reviews)
-Old town hall used for exhibitions & tourist info
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings • Lookouts
A significant historical building in the centre of Brno. Today, the Old Town Hall serves mainly cultural purposes, as it houses a gallery, an information centre, and a permanent exhibition on its history. In summer, you can visit its historical halls and climb up the 63-metre tower to enjoy an impressive view of Brno from the top. The courtyard serves as a venue for various concerts, festivals, theatre performances, and film screenings. Enter its arched passage through the portal beneath the legendary Late Gothic turret by sculptor Anton Pilgram. In the passage, you can see two items from other famous Brno legends: a crocodile, also called the Brno dragon, and a wheel. The courtyard beyond, with Renaissance arcades from the end of the 16th century, was built by Italian designers, and later modifications are the result of its Early Baroque renovations. The Old Town Hall served its original purpose until 1935 when the authorities moved to the New Town Hall located at Dominican Square. See more..

A beautifull cathedral that is poetic and inspiring. I loved photos that were taken when there was still corona, they hung them inside - the photos show people believing in it getting better and wanting to feel closer to god even though it was difficult-. The cathedral is a beautiful place and an old mister that was so generous to show us this place, explained the history of this place. Beautiful visit. See more..

Take a tour (partly by foot, partly by boat) through the Punkva caves, which also leads into the Macocha abyss, and you will not be disappointed. Afterwards, you can go up the mountain by funicular and look down into the abyss from above. Especially when there is another tour group standing down below, at the size of ants, you will experience the astonishing depth of the abyss. The tours through the caves are very popular, so be sure to book in advance, tickets sell out very quickly. See more..
- 4.5 Punkva Caves (252 reviews)
-How to get to Punkva Caves!
Saturday: 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM Caverns & Caves
Ok, so the caves are super cool. You should email in advance to make a reservation during the summer. After your visit, take a walk (or cable car) up to the top of the Gorge, then visit the Katerinska Caves. Be prepared to be in a big group - ours was full of kids. We made a full day of it, and enjoyed lunch in town near the caves. The most difficult part for us was getting there from Brno! So hopefully these instructions will help someone; First buy a 5 zone, 120 minute transit pass. Costs about 42 czk, or less than 2 euros. Take train S2 from Brno Hl. n. to Blankso (we had to leave from a different station, Brno Zidenice since there's some construction at the main train station). Take bus 226 from Blansko to Skalni Mlyn Buy your tickets at the info center in Skalni Mlyn at least 40 minutes before your visit Walk the 20 minutes to the cave, or take the train for a few euros (100 czk). Easy once you figure it out, but hard to figure out for us! Use google maps to figure out train/bus times, because they're fairly infrequent. The return train/bus was at 3:12pm and 5:12pm from Skalni Mlyn on weekdays. See more..
- 4.5 Capuchin Monastery and Vault (252 reviews)
-It feels strange to give a crypt an “Excellent”
Cemeteries • Religious Sites
– but we do because of a presentation that feeds curiosity without hurting dignity. Unlike other crypts of that type/order – dusty, poorly lit, ill preserved – here you get the feeling “them are well taken care”. - The history of Trenk is pretty interesting too. See more..
- 4.5 Zoo Jihlava (251 reviews)
-Must see zoo
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Zoos
I happen to love zoos and this zoo is one of the best thst I have seen. What is nice is that it is not too large, it has many different types of animals on display, and you can actually see most of the animals or at least a glimpse of them even if they are not out in their main area. Allow about 2-3 hours to take it all in. See more..
- 4.5 10-Z bunker Brno (245 reviews) from $7.71
-Museum - "bones"
Saturday: 11:30 AM - 6:15 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Military Bases & Facilities • Government Buildings
10-Z is the most highly classified nuclear fallout shelter in Brno from the Communist era to protect the city's and region's representatives. It had been built during the Nazi occupation as a civil defense (Luftschutz) shelter from U.S. and Soviet bombardment of Brno. A total of 600 people could be housed for 3 days. It serves as a cultural space from May 2016. You may visit also its retro bar. See more..
- 4.5 Wallachian Open Air Museum (233 reviews)
-Rent a car to get out to this excellent destination.
Speciality Museums
I loved spending the day here. You can get authentic old world food in the Wallachian village as you explore the old buildings and enjoy nature. Some farm animals and people in costumes show up here and there. Definitely worth it to visit all of the attractions there, but plan on a full day. Food, concerts, craftspeople. There's no shortage of things to do here and it's a bit of a time warp. Very popular and parking can be tough, but it's the fastest way to get out to this remote location. I used Sixt rentals from the airport in Brno. Took a solid 2.5 hours of driving from Brno via route 50. Faster and just as scenic via E462 but there are a few tolls. See more..

Castles
The whole city is full of beautiful attractions. Chateau, gardens, churches and old town. You can spend here all day long on sightseeing. See more..
- 4.5 Brno Dam (213 reviews)
-Spring on the dam
Dams
I caught tram No 1 to the Brno dam from main station, it took 30 minutes and then short walk to dam. There were plenty of food shops along the way. I took the dam to the castle which took 50 minutes. The boat goes every 45 minutes. You can sit indoors or if weather permits up top and get a great view. The boat makes a couple of stops on the way. Another short walk to castle. The day I went to the castle there was a re-enactment of WWII with German and Russian soldiers trucks, motorcycles and medical tents. It was a lot of fun to see with a variety of souvenirs and food stalls. Very relaxing day. See more..
- 4.5 Park Kvetna Zahrada (211 reviews)
-A famed Baroque garden
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Parks
The gardens here are preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. They comprise elaborate geometrical and floral layouts of trees and topiary. Near the centre of one part of the garden lies a large rotunda, with a Foucault’s Pendulum suspended from the dome. Nearby is a colonnade with statues representing figures from classical antiquity and myth. If climbed, this gives a great view of the gardens, and the two sides of the portico are echo chambers, allowing people to speak and listen to each other across the distance of the colonnade. To the south of the garden lie mazes, fountains and a tree on a little green hill. See more..
- 4.5 St. Jacob's Church (203 reviews)

- 4.5 Brno Technical Museum (200 reviews)
-Enjoy the happy ride
Saturday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Speciality Museums
Brno has a long tradition of racing concerning both cars and motorcycle s. The exhibition named Behind the wheel collects artefacts connected to activities of motor club and also racing cars of Moravian brands. Ladies will be inspired to learn lots of facts about the very successful female racer Ms Eliska Junkova riding the Bugatti car. She communicated to many foreign racers inviting them to take part in the new Brno circuit also referred as the Masaryk circuit in 1930. After her racing career she promoted the tyres produced in the Bata factory. Her idea was the name BARUM tyres. She soke several languages and liked music, Leos Janacek was her music teacher in Brno. What an inspiring lady! See more..

- 4.5 Minaret Lednice (177 reviews)
-don't miss out on the festival halls
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Architectural Buildings
While the view from the Minaret is definitely a highlight on its own merit, the eight festival halls on the first floor are pretty nice too. Should you be able to speak Czech a guide will for sure tell you far more about the history of the building and the rooms. Unfortunaely I can't speak Czech so I had to rely on the information sheets hanging in the room. Back in the 19th century so-called turkish or moorish rooms were en vogue and many aristocrats had their own version of those built. See more..
