Enjoy the happy ride

Brno has a long tradition of racing concerning both cars and motorcycle s. The exhibition named Behind the wheel collects artefacts connected to activities of motor club and also racing cars of Moravian brands. Ladies will be inspired to learn lots of facts about the very successful female racer Ms Eliska Junkova riding the Bugatti car. She communicated to many foreign racers inviting them to take part in the new Brno circuit also referred as the Masaryk circuit in 1930. After her racing career she promoted the tyres produced in the Bata factory. Her idea was the name BARUM tyres. She soke several languages and liked music, Leos Janacek was her music teacher in Brno. What an inspiring lady!

Very nice museum with some minor drawbacks
One of the reasons to come back to Brno was that we missed this museum last time. We looked this museum a lot. There are many different exhibitions. Of course we liked the cars. Both the Lada's were a trip down memory lane for me. My best friends dad used to have a Lada shop. Since I work in IT, the old computer stuff was great to see. The old game Room was a trip down memory lane as well. The bottom floor, with the open turbines and aircraft engines was interesting to see as well. The staff was very friendly and helpful, however, they are only able to speak Czech. That's something which applies to the whole museum. It's focus is strictly czech. As a result of which there is a huge exhibition about the Czech history and the falling off the iron curtain. I rated it the maximum of 5 stars, even when there are some drawbacks for foreigners. What didn't catch my interest is surely interesting for others. The game Room could have been a bit more hands on. It would be so nice of there were a few arcades from the past. The experimental centre at the top floor really needs English information. Luckily I paid attention at school and could explain some to my son. We spent around 3,5 hours in here on a hot day. It is advisable to go on a less hot day, since it is a pity to spent such day inside and the airco inside can't deal with such heat. All in all, very nice experience.

    What’s it about: technical artifacts.
Showing off the history of technology. Some of which could be part of your childhood memories (game boy, for example). 1. A history indeed stretching back thousands of years with ‘technology’ broadly defined. So here you’ll also get 19th century craftsmanship and axes and daggers and Victorinox specimens. 2. Look for the booths marked ‘information’ with a UK flag. That’s all the English you’ll get. 3. On the first floor there’s exhibitions on the much prized Grand Prix Brno with its motorcycles. Communist vehicles in the open hall. 4. On the second floor many themes are squashed into the same hall from vintage consoles to self-playing instruments. Staffer will turn those instruments on if you look eager enough. 5. A curious turn towards something more of ‘science museum’ happens on the third with games and activities for kids to demonstrate scientific facts. Find yourself behind glass doors – a clever design keeping the rest of the museum quiet. 6. An impressive collection of post-war vintage computers and switchboards.80's video games to play with. 7. Nokia 3310 on display in the café. ~master jonjon
