Better than expected trek up to the Taksang Monastery, beauty at every turn. Fun! We are an adventurous couple, 62 & 70 & made it up in 2 hrs. Enjoyed tea half way down with a view of the cliff. In early February we started at 7:30am & -3 C which was actually perfect as we warmed up quickly climbing almost 1,000 meters fairly briskly. Met wonderful fellow hikers cheering others on & feel very accomplished we were able to climb this special monument. See more..

thanks to thinley, pema and namgay for their hospitality during our honeymoon trip to bhutan. they were very kind and accommodating both before and during the trip itself, answering all our questions and also being very flexible with the itinerary. thinley was very patient with all our questions and his packages were very competitively priced. we also met him during the trip and had a good chat. for namgay (guide) and pema (driver), they were also fun pple to hang out with and tried to accommodate all our requests, including a visit back to the postal office in thimphu otw back to paro as it was closed when we were there. thanks for all the memories and sorry it took us so long to write this! Access Bhutan Tours & Treks image
This is the most magnificent tour I have ever experienced! My only regret was that I wasn’t able to stay longer and experience the beauty in Bhutan more. From the moment I inquired, Ms. Chimi was attentive and answered all my questions clearly. After I booked, I didn’t have to worry about anything! Her price point is more than fair for the service, the tour, the hotels, the food, and the people you meet. In fact, everything I experienced was the best. My tour guide and driver, Passang and Kinley, were so funny and great storytellers! It didn’t feel like a tour. It felt like I was visiting friends in Bhutan. I won’t say more about the places I visited as one should really visit and experience for themselves. The pictures below doesn’t give justice to its magic. See more..

    - Amazing Bhutan trip with local tour operator

    Amedewa Tours and Trek image
We did with the two of us a 7 day trip to Thimpu, Phunaka, Gangtey and Paro in January and it was nothing short of amazing! After comparing several tour operators when preparing for our trip we decided to go for Amedewa as Tashi was replying to our enquiries quickly and thoroughly. Also the offer was price competitive as you are not paying for any agencies or middle man. Tashi joined us during our tour as the driver in his new car (which was great as you spend quite some time on the road). He and our guide we very knowledgeable, flexible and accommodating to our request. From requesting extra heaters in hotels (in January it’s pretty cold) to including some hikes in the itinerary because we felt like hiking, they went above and beyond to make it happen. Highlights for us were Tiger’s nest, Phunaka castle and spotting the black necked cranes in Gangtey valley. It truly was one of the best trips we have ever done and can therefore only highly recommend them! See more..

    Bhutan Mountain Holiday image
Karma and his team at Bhutan Mountain Holiday are the absolute best! Karma is very responsive and was so helpful with even the smallest of details in planning our trip to Bhutan. He made the planning process very smooth and adjusted our itinerary as necessary to accommodate our family of 4 (we were traveling with a 6 and 2 year old). Once we landed in Paro, we were greeted by Mr. Bista (our guide for the week) and Mr. Toshi (our driver). Both we excellent, very professional and made our week holiday very memorable. Mr. Bista's extensive knowledge of the country made for a rich experience, and Mr. Toshi was an extremely good and careful driver. 10/10 would recommend Bhutan Mountain Holiday to anyone planning to visit Bhutan! The first time I am traveling with the guidance of travel agent and tour guides and yet, I an so touched and beyond grateful for the service they have provided. Mr Sangay was so attentive and quick to response when we were dealing with from thousands of miles away, and the bookings done efficiently. All the accomodation were perfect and so was the itinerary. Our guide Pema and driver Lobzang was amazing and we are seriously missing them. From attending to all our questions to helping us be at home in Bhutan and making us feel as a part of the family, to assisting us during the tiger nest’s hike to always being caring and attentive, both of them were amazing and we are beyond words in thanking them. Spent 10 days on our 1st trip to Bhutan and we are very convinced we made the right choice to go with, Migma from Aaron Ace. Tandin, our driver and Migma were thoughtful and fun-loving throughout the trip, which made our entire trip enjoyable and carefree. Migma is also knowledgeable and shares his love and understanding of the Bhutanese culture passionately as we visit various iconic sites. We could also sense his thorough preparation prior to our visit to ensure that our tour of Bhutan goes smoothly as he planned and our stay is comfortable. Bhutan Personal Tours image
I went to Bhutan with my dad for 5 days and had a fantastic experience with Bhutan Personal Tours. Tsering arranged everything beautifully, and then our guide and driver were extremely intuitive, empathetic, and always searching for how best to personalize our experience. They made the trip so special they elevated the experience past what we could have imagined. When my dad showed interest in rivers and water, they offered river rafting as an activity for the day. They even went out and got a birthday cake and surprised me! They truly went above and beyond to make the experience so special and personal to us. I'm so grateful for their wonderful hospitality and will absolutely recommend them in the future to anyone considering visiting Bhutan. See more..
  10. 5.0 Dra Karpo (4 reviews)
    - Guru Rinpoche Cave in Paro Bhutan
    Scenic Walking Areas
Towards the lower part of Paro, is a place, called Drakarpo. Guru Rinpoche had personally meditated in this monastery and many body prints still stand on testimony. Just below the monastery, one can see a cave where one has to pass through a narrow hole between the rocks to assess ones acts – pious or sinful. Within the cave, one can see the print of the Guru in a cave and one can see the images of a sinful and pious person in the cave. In the cave, there is the print of Paksamjoenshing. Besides all, one can see the miraculous footprint of Guru Rinpoche. See more..

It is a very special temple for the locals. Has a very rich history and lots of faithful followers. Very clean, well-maintained with some most beautiful statues and wall-frescoes. There are two temples in the compound and both are fascinating. The monks are friendly and happy to offer time to the visitors. I was lucky to be there when a special chanting was being conducted. The rhythmic chanting of the monks had a calming influence on my mind. See more..

    - An unplanned picnic spot - very enjoyable
    Bodies of Water
    Paro River image
The Bhutanese landscape is incomplete without the rivers and we spent many an enjoyable moments at the riverside. But the Paro riverside was special because we had an impromptu picnic there!. The Chelela pass where we were scheduled to have our picnic lunch suddenly turned cloudy and cold so we decided to have a picnic at the riverside instead! And perhaps we enjoyed it even more because of the chilly, windy place that Chelela is ....whichever way, it was really very peaceful, scenic and wonderful couple of hours at the riverside. It's incredible how much a place can change in 5 years! During my recent visit to the same spot I visited half a decade ago, it felt like I was walking back into a completely different time and place. The hostess was still kind, the location still unique - and while the hot bath had retained its relaxing magic, it made me imagine what it would have been like if I had been here during the days of the Penlop residing there. Such an experience that could never be forgotten! See more..
