We visited the Featured Woodgallery n Museum 2 weeks ago.... it was the most exhilarating experience for us group of 8 people. Outside was a full range of beautifully crafted wood products and the highlight was the Museum tour. The commentary and narration by the owner John Ablett was so informative and exciting on the memorabilia displayed in the Museum!...it was definitely worth the $5 entry charge! What great and friendly volunteers at the Op Shop. After leaving devastated Kalbarri a few days after the Cyclone, for a funeral in Bunbury. We found that with quick packing of clothing, we were running low so we visited the Op Shop as they were across the road from the shopping centre. Was a pleasure to speak with them and they were so very helpful. Keep up the good work and thanks to you. See more..

We were on our way home from visiting Collie and the wife loves her cheese , so there was no going past this place without stopping in. Parked up , there is no real inviting entrance , looked like it was closed as it isn’t lit up inside. But when we walked in , we were very surprised with the great customer service and the lady was very efficient. Cheese was very tasty , heaps of variety. A little bit pricey. We couldn’t leave without an ice cream which the mint choc was ok . Oh and loved the garlic and chive butter and we left with some of that as well. See more..

Hubby and I had a wonderful vist to the centre and walk along the jetty. We saw over 160 beautiful black swans in the estuary plus a stunning eagle sitting up in tree. We thought we were looking at a couple of fish but on closer inspection we realized it was a magnificent stingray. See more..
  19. 4.0 Buffalo Beach (2 reviews)
    - Lovely out-of-the-way beach
    Spent 1-2 hours Beaches
    Buffalo Beach image
Loved my visit here. It's out of the way, located in the Conservation Area, which you access via Buffalo Rd straight from the Forrest Hwy, and is west of Australind on the other side of the Leschenault Estuary. The road coming in is all paved, unlike the other beach (Belvidere) in this area. There's some toilets and a large parking area, plus some seating overlooking the ocean. You can also drive straight onto the beach here if you have a 4WD. I saw a couple of 4WDs on the beach, and also some people fishing. I'm sure in summer it would be a great place for swimming too. I walked along the beach, south towards Belvidere Beach, and it is lovely for enjoying the clean sandy beach and ocean. It's a bit of a drive to get here, but I enjoyed my day out in the peninsula, and Buffalo Beach was definitely the highlight for me. See more..
  20. 4.0 Myalup Beach (1 review)
    - Good for 4WD
    Beaches
    Myalup Beach image
Another stop on our Sunday drive, again a place that I had not visited since 1997. The town itself seemed to have expanded with more housing, both permanent and holiday homes. The beach area is white sand, almost pristine but with signs of vehicle tracks. Access to the beach seemed to have a barrier of sand but not enough to prevent 4WD access despite the adjacent sign stating that the beach was closed to all vehicles. Not sure what else was permissible, most activities other than swimming seemed banned based on the information sign. A few couples and children enjoying a stroll on the sand See more..
  21. 4.0 Harvey Tourist Precinct (1 review)
    - A quaint hidden delight
    Gardens
This place is easily over looked as just a tourist information centre, it is more than that. In the information centre, there is a May Gibbs display well worth a good look. May lived there in her early life and it is claimed that she took inspiration from her time in the Harvey area, as inspiration for her gum nut books. While the tourist information centre is the first part you see just take a walk out the back. There is a garden that is delightfully serene and a restaurant that produces consistently good food. The restaurant is a recreation of the house that May Gibbs lived in. The toilets are clean and appear to be well maintained. The location near the bridge is ideal as a stop over with a quaint atmosphere that is delightful. See more..
  22. 3.5 John Boyle O'Reilly Memorial (2 reviews)
    - Nice historic boardwalk in wetlands area
Spent < 1 hour Historic Walking Areas • Piers & Boardwalks • Scenic Walking Areas
    John Boyle O'Reilly Memorial image
This is located right at the entrance to the Leschenault Peninsula, and there's a parking lot, basic toilet, and short walk-trail through the wetlands with lots of interpretive signs. There's historical information about 1860's Irish republican convict John Boyle O’Reilly, as well as about the natural environment. There are lots of warnings about mosquitos, so come prepared with repellent. I enjoyed a walk through the area on the boardwalk, although I probably wouldn't come again on a hot day but a cooler day. See more..
  23. 3.0 Harris Track (1 review)
    - Walk or bike from Belvidere to The Cut
    Spent 1-2 hours Hiking Trails
    Harris Track image
The Harris Track is a walk in the Leschenault Peninsula Conservation Park, and starts at the Belvidere Picnic area, and goes all the way to The Cut opposite Turkey Point. I started at Belvidere picnic area, and biked all the way to the end along The Harris Track. It's about 9km to the end, one-way. It is advertised as suitable for biking, but I wouldn't recommend it, because there are many very soft and sandy stretches where I had to walk. At the very end you get to The Cut, where the estuary goes into the ocean. I saw a large pod of dolphins here. There were a couple of 4WD vehicles here, who had got here via the beach, which is a 10km drive from Belvidere Beach. There are no facilities, and there are lots of signs warning about mosquitos and Ross River Virus, so I was glad I had taken along insect repellant. Given that it is 9km long, it would take about 4 hours to walk to the end and back; on my bike it took me almost 1 hour one-way given that I had to walk some stretches. There are views of the Leschenault Estuary for most of the walk, and at the end you can see Turkey Point and also access the beach on the ocean side of the peninsula. See more..
