  1. 5.0 Ned's Beach (789 reviews)
    - Great spot
    Beaches
    Ned's Beach image
This is definitely our favourite beach spot, for snorkelling, feeding fish and outdoor bbq. The shed at this beach is open till 4pm, where you can hire snorkel gear and wetsuits. There is a honesty box. For $2 you can get a small cup of fish food and feed the fish. They come very close once you step in the water. There are two bbqs, one is a gas one and the other one is fire wood with wood underneath. This spot gets some small waves as well. See more..
  2. 5.0 Lord Howe Island Walking Trails (342 reviews)
    - Amazing views
    Hiking Trails
Lord Howe Island Walking Trails image
The walks on Lord Howe are very well marked out and maintained. The outstanding views and birdlife make the many steps and hills worthwhile. I did Kims Lookout (my favourite) twice (once in the morning and once in the afternoon), Malabar Lookout and Transit Hill near Mt Lidgbird. I took my time with each of the treks and took nearly two hours return for each one. I was there in March and temperatures were in the mid-twenties and I still went through over a litre of water on each walk. I trekked to Malabar Lookout from Ned's Beach in the dark to view sunrise (although full moon). I took a torch (which was a necessity) the only issue was that it did startle a couple Mutton Birds at the beginning of the trek. I definitely want to go back to Lord Howe and when I do I want to tackle the trails that I didn't have time to complete especially Mt Gower. See more..
  3. 5.0 Lagoon Beach (303 reviews)
    - Absolutely gorgeous
    Beaches
    Lagoon Beach image
Lagoon beach is pristine and beautiful with magnificent views of Mt Gower, Mt Lingbird and Rabbit Island. The water temperature was divine and we loved swimming everyday in the turquoise clear waters. We were staying at Pinetrees and enjoyed watching the glorious sunsets whilst sipping on a cool beer at the boat shed overlooking Lagoon Beach. The lagoon offers something for everyone from snorkelling, kayaking, swimming, and bbq’s picnic spots amongst the Norfolk pine trees. All the tour operators can be found here along the beachfront. We enjoyed the glass bottom boat tour with Lord Howe Environmental tours to snorkel at Erscott’s hole which was brilliant and the tour to Balls Pyramid. ( not to be missed! ). See more..
  4. 5.0 Mt Gower (247 reviews)
    - The hardest “walk” I have ever done! But so worth it.
    Mountains
    Mt Gower image
Walked or should I say climbed Mt Gower last week and it was tough. Jack gives little encouragement or support but simply guides you up and down - interspersed with some amusing stories. The views were superb and cloud forest stunning but make sure you are cardio fit and comfortable with heights. No regrets! See more..
  5. 5.0 Dive Lord Howe (223 reviews)
    - Fantastic dive center
    Sunday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Scuba & Snorkelling
    Dive Lord Howe image
Dive Lord Howe is an immaculately well run, friendly and helpful dive center that goes out of it’s way to maximize the diver’s enjoyment. My husband and I have logged over 400 dives each both in Australia and internationally and we have never encountered a superior dive operation. Every single person working on the boat or in the office was outstanding. We bought a 10 dive package and subsequently changed our minds about the days and times we wanted to dive with no issue whatsoever. The weather limited our access to dive sites on the west of the island but we were taken to various sites sheltered from the current and swell with care taken so we didn’t return to sites previously dived. The dive boat is comfortable and fast, and safety was always paramount. See more..

Thanks Peter for a very informative All Corners of the Island Tour. Definitely well worth it for those interested in the logistics of how a small island operates. Astounded by the wealth of local knowledge Peter is able to share and deliver in an entertaining manner. You won’t get this level of interesting information from anyone else. As well as writing a book on the History of Lord Howe Island Aviation and the flying boats, Peter has it all. See more..
  7. 5.0 Lord Howe Environmental Tours (181 reviews)
    - Mt Gower Trek
    Sunday: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM Scuba & Snorkelling • Boat Tours • Hiking & Camping Tours • Nature & Wildlife Tours • Kayaking & Canoeing
    Lord Howe Environmental Tours image
The Mt Gower trek was excellent. The climb was steep (400 metres gain in altitude over the last 900 metres of the trek). Ropes were placed on the upper sections for walkers to pull themselves up/let themselves down. This required good upper body and grip strength. I would recommend wearing bicycle gloves or something similar as some of the ropes were slippery and muddy. April was a great time to go as the summit was surrounded by Providence petrels that can be called down by making loud noises. Dean was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and walked at a reasonable pace. No food or water were provided. You need to be self sufficient. Many of the members of my group wore running shoes, which seemed to be okay if you don't mind them getting muddy, but I did it in hiking boots. The walk was about 8 hours in total. I highly recommend it. The highlight of my stay on the island. See more..

    Reef N Beyond image
I've wanted to return to Lord Howe ever since my first visit in 2007 for two main reasons - to do the Goat House Track and go to Balls Pyramid and snorkel there. I achieved both this visit and I would go again in a heartbeat. Dave, Glenys, Josh and Stephan make a brilliant team. The boat is amazing and the way Dave gave each side of the boat a chance to get up close to all features was highly skilful and much appreciated. We had superb weather and the clouds, shearwaters, flying fish and masked boobies really put on a show for us. We were fortunate the swells were kind to us, so that we could circumnavigate Lord Howe, the Pyramid and every island in between. I would have loved to have snorkelled longer, but the opportunity to be able to do it in the first place was amazing! I would highly recommend Reef N Beyond tours, worth every dollar, so add it to your Bucket List!! See more..
  9. 5.0 Islander Cruises (75 reviews)
    - Highly memorable and amazing
Sunday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Boat Tours
    Islander Cruises image
Island cruises LHI are very friendly, professional and have a wealth of knowledge of the local area and marine life. My partner and I went on a two hour glass bottom boat, turtle and snorkel tour of North Bay. Pete and his crew are absolutely amazing and very informative. We had the most amazing time and I would highly recommend Islander Cruises for all your LHI tours on Lord Howe Island. There tours are suitable for any age group, including children and our older folks. We were very fortunate to be able to see quite a few turtles on our tour. We also hired a kayak with Islander Cruises, which was great fun, although wish I had gone on one of their guided kayaking tours earlier on. See more..
  10. 5.0 Marine Adventures (58 reviews)
    - Great afternoon
Scuba & Snorkelling • Fishing Charters & Tours
    Marine Adventures image
The glass bottom boat & snorkel trip was a holiday highlight. As we headed out Anthony gave a little briefing on the lagoon (the wrecks in the lagoon, the coral types, the fish species, the threats to the ecosystem). There was plenty of time to have a swim & a couple of snorkels after the coral viewing. The wetsuits, flippers & masks are available to borrow from the shopfront if needed. It was a great afternoon... recommended! See more..

Their experience is fantatsic and their help and professionalism outstanding. The diving is varied and everysite has something unique. The dive master will guide you or if you prefer and are comfortable you can go in with your buddy. It is a photographers paradise and the crew are careful and helpful with cameras. I will return and totally recomend diving at Lord Howe and with Howea Divers. See more..

We were SO lucky to have Carol look after our 2 year old son at Lord Howe. I was a bit hesitant booking babysitting with someone we hadn't met before, but the minute we met Carol she put us at ease. Being a grandmother herself as well as having extensive experience looking after kids of all ages, it certainly showed. She is caring, warm, kind and reliable. She can also juggle kids who have a lot of energy! We stayed at Pinetrees lodge which offered a kids and adults dinner. Everything was so convenient - we put our son to sleep after the kids dinner, Carol then looked after him while we enjoyed a dinner to ourselves. Highly recommend Lord Howe Babysitting connection service and Carol who was exceptional. Our son loved spending time with you Carol, thank you! See more..
