Between the cities of Targu Jiu and Petrosani you shall find the National Park "Defileiu Jiului" , a very nice patch of nature that really deserves protection and conservation for the next generations. Now we have been driving through the park , there was no time for taking 1 of the numerous hiking trials, nonetheless the experience was well worth it. The park is being crossed by the E79 road, and the views on both sides are absolutely beautiful. Obviously not as spectacular as in the Transfagarasan road or on the Transalpina, but still with a certain beautiful. Along the road you will find the Lainici monastery and various other sites that are well worth for visiting and several points where you can stop and take some very nice pictures.
