A nice beach for swimming and lounging
Naiharn beach is a gorgeous beach for swimming and hanging out in lounge chairs. For 200 baht you can rent a pair of loungers and an umbrella but you have to get there early for the good spots, preferably before 9:30 am during peak season. You can buy fruit and snacks nearby for what is probably an inflated price but it's convenient for sure. Remember to pack your sunscreen and plenty of water. The water can be calm but also remember to look at the colour of the flag on the beach to make sure you're a skilled enough swimmer to manage it. There is a nice lagoon area for children on the left side of the beach.

Beautiful beach
It was a beautiful, clear beach for swimming and relaxing, and not too many water craft active near swimmers. When we went, there were a few clear jellyfish in the water that would occasionally give a little sting, which was a bit of a surprise but these weren't near the breaking waves if you just want to paddle. You can hire a kayak from the surf patrol people (when they are there) for 200 baht per hour. The hottest part of the day was midday-4pm, and there are trees off the beach that you can get shade in during this time.

Excellent Beach with sot white sand and good waves!
We visited Nai Harn beach in 2013 on way to Promthep cape to see the infamous sunset. Our taxi driver recommended this beach and we tanked him for this. We were told that this used to be nude beach until few years back (huh!). beach gets tides, so good for tide lovers, but has red flags as back current is not very safe at these spots. Me and son though enjoyed every tide. Since it is located far off and access required taxi, there wasnt too much of rush. Sand is soft and hardly any rocks under water! some of the hotels looked nice to us (we were staying on Patong) and may be in one of the future trips, will stay on these isolated spots.
