    Christ Church image
This is THE landmark building of Malacca! Anyone who visits Malacca must have a photo taken outside this church; otherwise, they can't claim to have visited Malacca! :-) To be honest, I didn't visit inside. Our guide told us the history of the place and we took our photos outside the building. I understand that it is still a working church. Perhaps another time on a return visit I shall have an opportunity to visit inside. We were very fortunate that on the day and time we visited the crowds had not built up yet and were able to take photos outside the church without too many people around! Many guide books tell you to take photos of the "I Love Melaka" sign near the church. Therefore many people were busy taking photos here, clearing the space for us to take pictures of the church instead! (Hurrah!) You should focus on taking photos of this historical building instead! Enjoy your time in Malacca! See more..
  2. 4.0 Cheng Hoon Teng Temple (715 reviews)
    - Beautiful Chinese temple

    Cheng Hoon Teng Temple image
The Cheng Hoon Teng Temple is the oldest functioning Chinese temple in Malaysia and is one that’s lavishly decorated with Chinese sculptures, ceramic sculptures on the roofs, golden paintings on temple doors. This is one of many buildings worth a visit in Malacca. As it was just after Chinese New Year and still within the celebrations period, many of the decorations were still and the Chinese style lanterns made the place even more beautiful. One of my favourite things is a rock garden at the back of the temple feature a limestone sculpture decorated with many Taoist, Buddhist and Confucian figure, centred around the Goddess of Mercy. The mosque itself was nice. Nothing as elaborate as Turkish mosques, but on par with other Malaysian mosques. The real treat is at sunset. Go to the jetty at the left to get a sunset photo to post on your wall at home, as the mosque itself lights up in green. See more..

    St. Francis Xavier Church image
The church is looking good after some exterior paintwork and can't be missed in it's location set back a little on Jln Banda Kaba. The interior is very pretty though with a simple but nicely painted ceiling, and some very lovely stained glass windows. quiet and peaceful inside. You won't regret stopping by for a short visit. St. Peter's Church image
By far, one of my favourite ruins in Asia. So charming and beautiful. The view is amazing. The street artist on the right side of the church is the best--bought so many pieces from him. This place is a must see when in Melaka. See more..

  7. 4.0 Masjid Salmah Khamis (1 review)
    - Peaceful mosque by the lake

    Masjid Salmah Khamis image
Masjid Salmah Khamis was completed around a year ago in a scenic part of Kampung Durian Daun. The village sits along the way between Masjid Tanah town and Alor Gajah, and by extension to the North South Highway. The mosque is partially built on a lake with green hills in the background. A recreational park is located on the other side of the lake. A religious school is located across the street and students from this school would flock the mosque at prayer times. Still new and the toilets are clean. Hopefully the mosque will be maintained far into the future. See more..
