Landmark Building!

This is THE landmark building of Malacca! Anyone who visits Malacca must have a photo taken outside this church; otherwise, they can't claim to have visited Malacca! :-) To be honest, I didn't visit inside. Our guide told us the history of the place and we took our photos outside the building. I understand that it is still a working church. Perhaps another time on a return visit I shall have an opportunity to visit inside. We were very fortunate that on the day and time we visited the crowds had not built up yet and were able to take photos outside the church without too many people around! Many guide books tell you to take photos of the "I Love Melaka" sign near the church. Therefore many people were busy taking photos here, clearing the space for us to take pictures of the church instead! (Hurrah!) You should focus on taking photos of this historical building instead! Enjoy your time in Malacca!

Don't expect something ancient and spectacular
Once again, it helps understand the history of the area when you visit this church. But it is really nothing special inside and really not that old compared to historical churches elsewhere in the world. The city of Melaka is beautiful and clean and a credit to the locals in the way they maintain the area.

Simple historical red building in the well known red square.
This church is at red square at the zero kilometer pole of malacca , it,s the place where Portugal newcomers settled their faithful Catholic Church here in the Far East. The entrance is at the souvenir shop next to the red building. Welcome visitors by old kind lady then accede the church from side / front door is closed, the interior is simple with the altar for making the service , worshipping god and there are no house of organs as usual Catholic Church on the opposite side. There are not many chapels of Saints or Virgin Mary at each side. It’s so simple but feels about sacredness.
