Well, we were the «stupid ones» and wore flips flops. Not out of ignorance, but because we didn’t want to get our sneakers covered in red mud, which is impossible to wash off. That being said, I do not recommend wearing flip flops as the climb is steep and slippery, but we went during dry season and are reasonably fit and flexible. It was an easy enough climb up, but somewhat harder going down. The view from the viewpoint is absolutely amazing and well worth it. Expect 15 minutes up and about the same down. Also recommended going an hour or so before sunset as there were hardly anyone else there. See more..

This is definitely NOT a stroll in the park, it’s a challenging hike up a Rocky Mountain track in possibly tropical conditions depending on time of year. You will definitely need decent training shoes or better still hiking boots unlike some of the people I passed in flip flops!!! Take plenty of water (at least 2 Ltr),sun cream, insect repellent and possibly a sugar snack as you will definitely be sweating!!! All that said, after around 2 hours you should reach it’s peak you will definitely be rewarded with spectacular views. Unfortunately it’s the descent after that and in my opinion a tougher walk back down than up but a great adventure if like me you get bored of sitting around a pool or beach. Cost is 300 Bhat which seems to be normal for entering a National park. Please don’t attempt this if you are not fairly fit, you have been warned See more..

We enjoyed a quiet stroll, after sunset, through old town. The Chinese lanterns look beautiful between the shops and shine softly in the night sky. Although, slightly unkept, my 6 and 3 year old loved the playground! They were also able to walk all the way down and up the ‘old town’ street, without feeling tired. We also had dinner at Pinto Restaurant - a tucked away gem. See more..
