The Arizona Memorial/ be prepared
There is so much to see now at the USS Arizona Memorial. We prepaid the admission to reserve a time to visit the memorial itself which is reached by a large boat. If you do not reserve a time, you will need to join the stand by line and stand in the hot sun, which allows to get on the boat if space permits. That could be a very long wait. We opted to also get the audio guide which gives you info on various locations here. Make sure to get the map which shows you the numbers to push on the audio guide for the info. The staff was not helpful with this info at all. Finally, you can also sign up to do the virtual reality googles. You sit in a chair which swivels and can experience December 7th from different perspectives, either from the air or on the Arizona. Very interesting. You can round out your day by seeing the movie in an open air setting, and visiting different mini museums like the one dedicated to the attack, A very moving day.

Impressive, but very bad arranged how you can visit it!
Impressive memorial, but it is outrageous how you have to visit it! They only put the "free tickets" open a day before the visit, at 03:00pm, at 03:01 pm everything is "sold out". I suspect it's tour companies taking all of these tickets. The only way to see it then is to buy it expensive at a tour operator, or wait in line more than an hour with no guarantee you can visit it! It's a shame a memorial is arranged this way, it would be far more honest to just let everybody wait in a line and not with "tickets" that you aren't able to get a hand to!
