Our Crazy Cat Kid Loved It
I didn't think I would go all the way to Hawaii and end up visiting a cat sanctuary, but.... we did and loved it. My daughter is obsessed with cats, saw an advertisement in the airport when we landed in Maui, and it was the only thing she had to do while there. It turned out to be a fun adventure, but it did take some planning. Keep in mind they close at 3 pm, so make sure to take a mid-morning ferry at the latest. Also, have a shuttle service reserved when you get there. We used Rabaca's, and she was fun and very informative. Take snacks and water as there's nothing there. We found the trip on the ferry and drive there all part of the adventure, evening seeing whales from the ferry. The cats are so sweet and love treats. The place is very well cared for and clean. We loved spending time with the kitty's that were rehabilitating. The island is very uninhabited and relaxing. We were glad our crazy cat kid talked us into going.

Omg! Cats cats and more cats! They’re all so adorable and friendly. It is a must go.
The sanctuary treats the cats very well. They’re all very friendly and if you are in need of a feline encounter I strongly recommend you see this place. Allcats are available for adoption and one is sweeter than the next. I was covered in cats. Once you sit down...they’ll hop all over you for a pet and a cuddle. They want treats, which are provided by the sanctuary for free and a nice little pet while you visit them. I may just adopt one as one give me a big hug and I wish I could take them with me. They will ship you a cat if you fall in love with one for adoption so long as you pay for transportation costs. The trip to lanai is also nice From Maui as you get to see whale watching for free if you go during the whale watching season. The ferry ride from Maui to Lanai is about 45 minutes. I suggest using “lost on the lanai” as I did, for your traveling from the Lanai harbor to the sanctuary, they’re very good. Otherwise, you could get stuck paying for a taxi upwards of 100 bucks just to get there -it’s a scam don’t fall for it. They wait at the harbor for you when you get off the ship. Don’t get in a taxi. Use a shuttle.
