4.5Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes(2.446 reviews) - What a beautiful place Thursday: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM Spent 1-2 hours Religious Sites
Extremely beautiful, well-kept monastery. It is worth entering and seeing the idyllic garden surrounded by two levels of cloisters, intricate decorations and sculptures, and of course the church itself with a stately altar. This monastery was built as a mausoleum for the Catholic monarchs before they moved to Granada. A beautiful monastery well worth visiting.See more..
4.0Iglesia de Santo Tome(2.193 reviews) - Interesting church and the majestic painting of El Greco Thursday: 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites • Art Museums
One of the most famous and important paintings by the painter El Greco is located in the Church of Santo Tome. It is the burial of Count Orgaz. The scene of the painting depicts how they are waiting in heaven for the soul of the deceased Count Orgaz, while the eminent figures of the time attend the funeral of this noble knight from Toledo, who was known for his pious works of mercy and for the honesty of a good gentleman. In the painting, El Greco portrays also himself and Cervantes. The organization of the visit was quite correct. Its interior is worth visiting if only to enjoy the painting of El Greco.See more..
4.0El Transito Synagogue and Sephardic Museum(1.951 reviews) - Make this the synagogue to visit if you have time for just one! Spent 2-3 hours Speciality Museums • Religious Sites
Really beautiful, but simple interior, with much of the original decoration still intact - especially visible from the women's section where you can see all the Hebrew on the walls. The small museum also has a nice variety of artifacts. Very glad we went.See more..
4.0Synagogue of Saint Mary the White(1.931 reviews) - This place captivates with its beauty and harmony Spent < 1 hour Religious Sites
The synagogue is located in the Jewish quarter of Toledo. Very architecturally beautiful interior. The synagogue was built at the turn of the 12th / 13th century in the Mudejar style. In 1405, the faithful from the nearby parish of Santiago de Arrabal seized the synagogue and converted it into the Church of Santa María la Blanca. The name came from the white color of the walls. The building is not very large, very well-kept, with moderation in its ornamentation, and enchants with its simplicity. It doesn't take long to see it, but it's definitely worth seeing.See more..
Realised that the only way to see the cathedral was by paying for the visit, which seemed pricey, but did include an audio guide. Somewhat reluctantly shelled out the relevant entrance fee, and hoped that we wouldn’t regret it. However, would have to say it was perhaps one of the most interesting visits to such a place that we have made in many years, really informative about the history of Sigüenza and the cathedral, as well as important people associated with it. What we hadn’t expected was some of the serious treasures, architecture, and works of art that have ended up here. Included in the fee was entrance to the museum nearby. The famous tomb of the Doncel de Sigüenza was particularly impressive. Have to admit we came out saying that it was worth every penny (or euro in this case)See more..
I read another review where they were worried to drive to the top in a rental car - I just want to sya that there are no troubles in doing that. Yes it is a bumpy road and some places there are water crossing the path especially after rain - but it is safe and the views when you get up there are well worth the bumpy road.See more..
