Le thriller psychologique Joker est sans aucun doute l’un des films les plus mémorables de l’année 2019. Ce récit unique revenant sur les origines du personnage nous présente la transformation d’Arthur Fleck en super-vilain psychopathe terrorisant Gotham City… ce qui a de quoi séduire tant les amateurs que les détracteurs de l’univers de Batman. C'est un Joaquin Phoenix profondément humain qui incarne le personnage d’Arthur Fleck, un individu marginalisé qui sombre lentement mais sûrement dans le délire. Dirigé par Dirk Brossé, le Belgian National Orchestra interprétera en live la musique de Joker, écrite par la compositrice et violoncelliste classique islandaise Hildur Guðnadóttir. Son propre instrument, le violoncelle, interprète le personnage-titre, tandis que l’orchestre symbolise la folie qui monte dans la tête de ce clown criminel bariolé de jaune et de violet : d’abord assoupie en arrière-plan, elle devient plus bruyante et finit par avaler le violoncelle tout entier. Pour la bande originale de Joker, Hildur Guðnadóttir, qui a également composé la musique de la célèbre mini-série Chernobyl, a reçu de nombreux prix, dont l'Oscar et le Golden Globe Award de la meilleure musique originale.

De psychologische thriller Joker is zonder twijfel een van de meest memorabele films uit het jaar 2019. Het unieke oorsprongsverhaal rondom Arthur Fleck, die uiteindelijk de psychopathische superschurk wordt die Gotham City terroriseert, kon vriend en vijand van het Batmanuniversum bekoren. Dat heeft alles te maken met de fenomenale acteerprestatie van Joaquin Phoenix. Op diepmenselijke wijze vertolkt deze het personage van Arthur Fleck, een gemarginaliseerd individu dat langzaam maar zeker afglijdt in de waanzijn. De muziek van Joker, die het Belgian National Orchestra onder de leiding van Dirk Brossé live zal uitvoeren, werd geschreven door de Ijslandse componiste en klassiek celliste Hildur Guðnadóttir. Haar eigen instrument, de cello, vertolkt het titelpersonage terwijl het orkest de waanzin symboliseert die oprijst in het hoofd van de paars-gele horrorclown: eerst sluimerend aanwezig op de achtergrond, dan alsmaar luider wordend en uiteindelijk de cello totaal verzwelgend. Voor de soundtrack van Joker kreeg Hildur Guðnadóttir, die tegelijkertijd ook de muziek schreef voor de gevierde mini-serie Chernobyl, heel wat prijzen toegekend waaronder ook een Oscar en een Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.

The unique origin story surrounding Arthur Fleck, who eventually becomes the psychopathic supervillain terrorizing Gotham City, could charm friend and foe of the Batman universe. That has everything to do with Joaquin Phoenix’s phenomenal acting. In a deeply human way, he portrays the character of Arthur Fleck, a marginalized individual who slowly but surely slips into delusion. The music of Joker, which the Belgian National Orchestra, conducted by Dirk Brossé, will perform live, was written by Icelandic composer and classical cellist Hildur Guðnadóttir. Her own instrument, the cello, interprets the title character while the orchestra symbolizes the madness that rises in the head of the purple-yellow killer clown: first slumbering in the background, then growing louder and finally swallowing the cello whole. For the soundtrack of Joker, Hildur Guðnadóttir, who also wrote the music for the celebrated mini-series Chernobyl, was awarded many prizes including the Oscar and the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score.
