Some of the trees and plants, and the rock formations, are very exotic and in a nice way, unusual. For the palace inhabitants it was probably a peaceful and tranquil haven. During my visit, it was loaded with sightseers and a little noisy. It was also a hot 37C, so I bought myself a mango drink in a Palace Shop. See more..

    Olympic Park image
We loved visiting Olympic Park! Had read reviews that it wasn’t no big deal but we thought that it was fabulous! We took the bus from Wudaokou area and arrived slightly before sunset and purchased tickets to go to the Bird’s Nest (100RMB.) It is awesome to see them getting ready for the 2022 Winter Olympics. We went to the very top of the Nest and got to see the skyline turn from day to night. It was very cold and just magical. They were making snow for the ski slopes and a winter village. You can pick up a few official 2022 Winter Olympic items if you would like and find a bite to eat. We did not get to explore the Olympic Forest but it’s a great escape in the heart of the city. This lovely wooded park is a favourite of Beijingers, especially in autumn to see the maple trees with their striking red leaves ( it’s traditional to collect them). Walk thru the lower areas spotted with pavilions & temples and winding paths to wander around, or take the cable car up to the top for some views of the surrounding hilly countryside. See more..

Our kids had a blast, and it didn't break the bank. And the headliner coaster there was by far the scariest we'd ever seen, Disney, Universal, Flags included. Don't go on a weekend, though, lines are extremely long. See more..
