Great views from Top of the Nest!

We loved visiting Olympic Park! Had read reviews that it wasn’t no big deal but we thought that it was fabulous! We took the bus from Wudaokou area and arrived slightly before sunset and purchased tickets to go to the Bird’s Nest (100RMB.) It is awesome to see them getting ready for the 2022 Winter Olympics. We went to the very top of the Nest and got to see the skyline turn from day to night. It was very cold and just magical. They were making snow for the ski slopes and a winter village. You can pick up a few official 2022 Winter Olympic items if you would like and find a bite to eat. We did not get to explore the Olympic Forest but it’s a great escape in the heart of the city.

Better in real life than on TV. So much to see.
This whole area is a great legacy left from the Beijing Olympics where Chinese design, ingenuity and planning are very well showcased. The grounds are spotless and garden areas are very well maintained. Large buildings, smaller structures and various statues are all very interesting to see and explore. Being there in person meant having choice of what to see and not be limited to 'televised' areas. Further, seeing icons such as the National Stadium (Birdsnest) up close really gave an appreciation of its architecture. The whole design of the area was perfect and one thing I certainly didn't know was that the waterway that's part of the Park area is actually dragon shaped, bringing the site into a focused whole. One thing to do when arriving is to get a map of the Park or a photo of the Park display. It certainly helped with getting around. There were plenty of people there including quite a few school groups but due to its size it wasnt crowded at all.
