    South Luangwa National Park image
I had two game drives in the park. A day and night game drive. The rich bird population was very noticeable on both game drives. My highlight was being able to observe 3 of the big 5 on my night game drive. Park fees for International guest was at 25 dollars See more..
  2. 5.0 Lumangwe Falls (13 reviews)

    Lumangwe Falls image
Stunningly impressive falls in a beautiful location. Viewing areas at the top of the falls, across from the main falls and at the boiling point. Beautiful campsite, you can pitch your tent right at the top of the falls, enjoy sundowners looking across the falls or swim just upstream. Working toilets and water taps, braai stands and an nsaka for shelter. Friendly, attentive staff. Kabwelume falls is a short drive away however we would not recommend camping there. See more..

    Kapishya Hot Springs image
We stayed at the campsite at Kapishya Hot Springs both on the way north and back south on our East Africa safari. It is simply a magnificent campsite with beautiful hot springs, verdant African bush and a cool river. I must also acknowledge the most kind assistance of the owner who helped fix a door on my caravan. See more..

  7. 4.5 Kalambo Falls (11 reviews)
    - The Cherry on Top....of Zambia
    Waterfalls
    Kalambo Falls image
Although remote, they're definitely worth the trip. Most northern point of Zambia you're just a few steps across a waterfall to Tanzania. You begin at the top of the waterfall in which you could dip your feet (caution - no barriers), from there a walking path with several hundred rock steps and handrail take you to several viewpoints. The last viewpoint being the money shot. Quiet and picturesque. Part of NHCC, access pricing is standardized with Resident/Non-Resident pricing. Day visit and camping rates available. Cash only. Resident: Non-Resident: Adult: K5 US$10 Child: K2.50 US$5 Vehicle: K4 US$5 Camping: K33 US$15 The remote area makes credit card connectivity difficult. Toilet area available but you should bring your own TP and hand sanitizer. See more..
  8. 4.5 Bangweulu Wetlands (8 reviews)
    - Where the Water Meets the Sky
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Bangweulu Wetlands image
We camped at Nsobe Community Camp in the Bangweulu Wetlands. This is a rustic camp site which opens from May to November each year. 6 campsites with ablutions and a bucket shower (hot water!), and no electricity. (They are in the process of building all weather ambitions. ) This place is very special, and quite different to the rest of Zambia - wetland plains filled with Black lechwe (by the thousands), and plentiful water birds. We counted over 100 wattled cranes in 1 flock. Pelicans, storks, ibis, collared particle amongst others. We took a boat trip in the swamps and even had a sighting of a Shoebill. What a bird! And what an experience. Definitely worth a visit if you are wanting to explore Zambia..... See more..
  9. 4.0 Shiwa Ngandu (29 reviews)
    - Historic landmark
Spent More than 3 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Shiwa Ngandu image
This is a very long distance from Lusaka so a visit requires careful planning. Most often it is combined with a stay at the nearby Kapishya hot springs. Knowing some of the history of the Shiwa estate will be helpful but not really necessary, since a very knowledgeable member of the Harvey family will be your guide through the sightseeing tour of the premises. We got to enjoy the expertise of mistress Jo, who very vividly related the life and the vision of family patriarch Sir Stewart Gore-Browne. All in all a most interesting visit to place that played a great role in the history of Zambia, both before and after independence. And they will happily receive your entrance fee for the never-ending renovations required at this 100 year old building. See more..
