We visited in September and rain gear was not available, but due to the dry season it was not needed. The Falls are absolutely gorgeous and the park is well taken care of. There is a small refreshment stand near the top of the Boiling Pot trail. It is very steep to go to the Boiling Pot, but very worthwhile and beautiful. You absolutely do not need a guide, but there are many people who will tell you you must have a guide and they hire out for the job. The price is very reasonable (about $20 US), and we spent about 2.5 hours walking the trails and taking pictures. Highly recommend See more..

We were lucky enough to do the 2 day/1 night white water rafting trip. Everything about it exceeded our expectations. This was our second time rafting on the Zambezi, and was the best rafting experience we have ever had. The team who guided us on the trip were all so friendly, highly skilled, and accommodating to all our requests. James and Andrew were amazing guides, Clement and T-Boy did a great job, taking turns in scouting out the best passage over the rapids and taking amazing photos and video, which were emailed to us a few days after completing the trip. Chef Mike cooked us a delicious dinner and breakfast over a wood fire at our camping spot for the night. We will certainly be back! See more..

We worked with Steve and Connie from African Safari Experience to book our tours while in Livingstone, FIVE tours in total, and all were well beyond our expectations. They accommodated our interests, ability, schedule, budget and provided all the logistical support to make each tour easy for us as can be, picking us up at our hotel door and dropping us home afterward. We did the sunset cruise, morning birding cruise, both rhino safari and birding tour in Mosi-oa-Tanya Park in Livingstone, and an amazing overnight safari in Chobe National Park, Botswana. I learned not only a lot about the nature in the park, but also about the parks history, how rangers are an integral part of the park, and of course saw the rhinos! Of course - from a safe distance for both myself and rhinos (I’d hate to stress them out). We met Simon at the airport upon our arrival. He provided wonderful service and commentary as he drove us to our hotel. We contacted him to provide a Mukuni Village tour and some time at the Livingstone Museum. We only had half a day so he picked us up early, arranged for a tour of the village and also a guide in the museum to make sure we saw it all before taking us to the airport. I used Steve for a transfer from Livingstone to Kasane in October 2019. He arrived at my hotel slightly early. I needed a USB-C charger for my phone, but it was morning and stores hadn't opened yet. Because of Steve's local knowledge and relationships, he was able to get me into a store that hadn't opened yet and I was able to buy a charger. Steve was not annoyed and seemed happy to help me out. This used to be ChoBro Masaka but after a change of management they've renamed it and done the place up. It's pretty big with dancefloor, VIP area, cheap drinks etc. Worth it for a dance with local if you are stopping in Choma on you way to or from Lusaka / Livingstone. Would recommend getting a taxi there from your hotel and asking them to wait for you until you're done as there aren't street lights on the road leading up to it (despite being a man road....!). It's fairly cheap to get a taxi to do that for you and makes it easier to get home too. See more..

We were 7 family members traveling to Victoria Falls and wanted to find more to do than look at the falls (which were spectacular) so I engaged Sable Tours to pick us up from the airport, handle all our touring and return us to the airport. In other words we relied on them for the entire time we were in the Victoria Falls area. They sent us a wide variety of activities from which we chose the best. They handled Our family well including providing advise and recommending what was best. When we crossed the boarder between Zambia & Zimbabwe they assisted and passed us off as efficiently as it could have been under the circumstances. They were dependable and had nice clean vehicles. A safety talk was provided by the guides and assurance was provided that there were five more guides with the lions. We set off to the area were we found 4 lions each less than two years old. Each visitor took turns to stroke the lions while behind thereafter, each was given a chance to walk behind with the lions and was allowed to touch their tails. This was a great afternoon. We booked directly with the camp, Zambezi Elephant Trails, via our hotel reception. On arrival at the elephant camp near Thorntree Lodge, we were given a short induction before meeting the elephants, and then off you go, high, high up on the back of an elephant for a lovely hour's stroll through the bush by the Zambezi river. We were lucky enough to ride on the Matriarch, with the rest of the herd following and her little baby running alongside. After the ride, you get a chance to interact with, and even feed the elephants. This tour was absolutely mesmerizing. We did the lunch on island tour and are so glad we did - you don't go for the food but the quality was top notch food wise. In terms of the island itself, every group gets a guide to take them around the edge of the waterfall. David was ours and he was excellent in all regards around safety and giving people courage to safely approach the edge of the falls. Towel provided. We chose to hire a car for a day which saved a ton of money on expensive tours. The actual tour fee if you go there yourselves is the equivalent of $5 a person. Book with a tour company and it’s $50 pp. car hire from around $50 a day. The village is amazing to look around. A village that is dependent on tours, so you can enjoy your experience knowing you are contributing to their primary income as a community. As you wonder through the village with your local village guide, you will learn and observe the local community. I felt quite emotional as we toured - such a simple life, one which is without all the mod cons, making me reconsider what is really important or necessary in life. It’s a tour that will fascinate young and old. Beautiful, well trained and very well looked after horses. Gorgeous setting, we arrived at 7am and rode from the stables back to Waterberry Lodge along the Zambezi and through the bush. Gail (the owner) was lovely and made sure the entire group were all briefed and comfortable before we headed off. Hat's were provided. During the ride our guide was very friendly and informative, advising us on the local area, trees etc - we all felt in very safe hands. We saw an adder as well as a huge family of elephants as the sun rose - it really was special. Our group had very mixed horse riding experience and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it regardless of their ability. An amazing experience and I would highly recommend to anyone who has an extra day in the Livingstone area. See more..
