I am working with the community on the Lake shore on a poverty reduction program. the Sunsets and sunrises are spectacular. if you manage to climb the mountains the lake looks even very beautiful. Mountain climbers can have it hard here.

Lake Tanganyika in Zambia
Lake Tanganyika is truly a spectacular lake, with the zambian side has the most untouched and beautiful shores. From what I have read Lake Tanganyika is the longest lake in the world and the 2nd deepest (to lake Baikal in Russia). 1/6th of the worlds fresh water resources is in this great rift valley wonder. Nsumbu National park has over 100kms of this shoreline in its bounds and is one of the largest national parks in Zambia. It is home to many animals such as Puku, warthog, Hippo, Crocodiles, Elephant, Lion, Bushbuck, Situtunga and many bird species. Kasaba Bay Airport is located inside Nsumbu (also referred to as Sumbu) National Park so that you can directly charter a small plane in, no commercial flight operate as yet. There is a new road being constructed at the moment that links Mbala to Nsumbu National park, its halfway done and should be finished by the year end. The best way to see the park is by boat cruise or by walking safari as there is very little road access around the park. Ndole Bay Lodge is about 20 minutes drive from Sumbu and is the best lodge to visit on the Zambian side with many types of accommodation options (luxury, standard and camping) and has many boats to choose from. It has a great atmosphere and well trained staff Ndole is also the only PADI registered SCUBA centre on Lake Tanganyika, so you can see it from an underwater perspective as well. They also have Walking safaris, Overnight camping trips in the park,Snorkel Tours, Fishing trips and watersports and if you ask for special tours they will accommodate.
