   Awesome family experience with kids age 13 and 10. Jack, the owner and his family were so kind and helpful. Jack met us at the Metacomet location where we parked our car. We hopped in his van and drove up river to the Strawberry Hill launch area. Our family of four started Kayaking around 5:30pm and reached our destination by 7:30pm. We saw beavers, eagles and got to do some fishing. I recommend bringing water, snacks and wearing water friendly clothes and shoes. There were very few bugs on our kayaking ride but come sundown the mosquitos were out in full force in the parking lot. Cash or Venmo only. Highly recommend Metacomet Tours!    So glad the DAR has maintained this historic home for others to appreciate! We saw it decorated for Christmas as it would have been in 1860. We learned so much about what Oliver Ellsworth contributed to the drafting of the Declaration of Independence and was the third Supreme Court Justice among other things. See more..

   I have been to this shop several times and always love seeing all of the unique items the shop has, with new items every time! The shop has a variety of items for all occasions, and varying prices, so there is something for everyone! The best part is that the shop is run by Family Partnerships of CT, which provides employment and day services for intellectually disabled individuals. Most of the items sold in the store are made by or benefit other charities as well, so it is an awesome shop for awesome causes!! See more..

   Found this wonderful spot right before they were closing. Did manage to get in an alcohol painitng ( the medium, not the drink) and silk scarf dying class.    It's a beautiful park with excellent facilities and a wide variety of walking/hiking paths. Paths are very well marked and clear. It was very buggy due to wetlands, so recommend using some kind of but repellent, but it's a beautiful spot that I'd definitely go back to. See more..

    This park is smaller and more unassuming that many of Connecticut's state parks. There are a couple of small parking lots, and then a direct path to the river, as this is a popular place to enter the river with your boat. However, directly to the right of the boating entrance is a flat, paved trail where you can walk, bike, walk your dog, etc. It's fairly scenic, although there's nowhere else to admire the river from the trail. There are picnic tables placed sporadically along the trail. The good thing about this park is that it seems relatively unknown, so it's not terribly crowded. See more..
