    - Lake Huron is beautiful

Once we visited this park, we had officially visited all 5 Great Lakes... ...And this park immediately made Huron one of our favorites. The water is so pretty and clean! I grew up on Lake Erie and lived on Lake Ontario for a little while, so I’m not used to seeing such bright blue-green water at a Great Lake. (Erie & Ontario are very brown) Aside from a perfect Lake Huron experience, this is just a nice park in general. Plenty of places for kids to play (including playgrounds), hiking trails, and other activities. All the facilities are in acceptable conditions and there weren’t very many people there when we were, which made it feel like we had the park to ourselves (on a Sunday!)... There is a fee to get in. The ranger told us we could pay $9 and have access to ALL Michigan state parks, which of course we did. See more..

We spent a great Saturday afternoon here. Started with a couple flights of cider and the chicken pizza. The pizza was the best one I have ever had. The cider was all good too. Ended up getting a couple bottles to take home. Had a great time wandering around the pumpkin patch. small corn maze, and orchard. Fed the goats and then to the bakery. There was a good line to order, but it moved quickly. We bought some desert to eat there and some donuts to take home. Everything tasted great and the people who work there are so nice and helpful. Thanks for a fun day. See more..

This small maritime museum in the small town of Rogers City is dedicated to the memory of those who worked on ships in the Great Lakes. Admission is $5/adult. Not a typical museum with lots of artifacts but mostly photos and biographies of some of the great freighters and the people that lived and died on the ships. The memorial walls of some of those that lost their lives on the wrecks was moving. There is a binder of newspaper articles from the 1958 wreck of the Carl Bradley and how if affected the town of Rogers City. Very sad. The highlight of our visit was talking to the volunteer Steve Thompson who retired as a chief engineer and worked on many of the boats. He graciously answered all our questions and gave us a sense of what it was like being on a huge freighter. There is a small gift shop. We enjoyed our visit. See more..
  5. 4.5 Mr. Mustache And Company (2 reviews)
    - Gem of a store
    Speciality & Gift Shops
It was a cold dreary day and we were looking for something to do. We stumbled upon this toy store and went in to browse. The owners are very cordial and passionate about what they do. I am a parent of a teenager so the only product that interested my child was the Mackinaw Island fudge. This is a “old timey” store with new flair. It boasts a working Nickelodeon piano, carousel animals (to look at) and small motorized ride toys. They have a large selection of Melissa and Doug wood toys. Kites and misc. toys for both boys and girls. This store is a gem. See more..
