  1. 5.0 Stevens Twin Sinks Preserve (3 reviews)
    - Frightfully delightful!

This place is bonkers! Follow a short trail to peer over the edge of sinkholes deeper than you'd care to fall into. At one point, the trail narrows, and you realize you are on a slim ridge with super-deep drop offs on both sides. Crazy cool Northeast Michigan nature at its best! See more..
  2. 5.0 Mystery Valley Karst Preserve and Nature Sanctuary (2 reviews)
    - Earthcracks!

Earthcracks! None of us had ever heard of this rare geologic formation, much less seen one. We were not disappointed! Earlier in the day, while visiting the Besser Museum in Alpena, one of us had picked up a brochure that mapped out how to find the preserve and it's features, which was very handy. Once you've found the entrance, park by the side of the road, walk down the farm lane through the field, and descend into the forest. One of the first features is a series of earthcracks, which are narrow fissures cut into the ground. We clambered around inside the deep dank pits, which the kids said smelled like spiders. Further down the trail are fossils and a "disappearing" lake. All in all, very cool! See more..

Thompson’s Harbor State Park on Lake Huron was down a long gravel road that I thought was leading me nowhere but it ended at a secluded spot right on the lake. No one else was there. No wildlife at all. The beach was all rocks and no sand but there was a log to sit on and have a snack. The water was really clear. Very peaceful. There was even a toilet by the parking area and it was clean. Had no problem getting there in my sedan. See more..

My Uncle owns the property and we were here for my cousins wedding. We got our first tour of Elowsky Mill from Gary, he was awesome and very informative as his parents owned it before selling it to my Uncle. Very beautiful piece of property. They also have a beautiful barn for receptions, and if you have a lot of guest you could get a huge tent. They also have a serving room for buffets, rest rooms, they also have several rentals you could stay at. Truly a site and place to see! See more..
