What a memorable tour. Steve was so passionate about sharing so much information about the prison, the history, the prisoners, the wardens in charge and a "day" in the prison. Was very interesting and eye-opening. Can not wait until Cellblcok 7 reopens and be able to tour that one as well. Highly recommend this tour....and highly recommend Steve!!! See more..

Our Airpark Tasting Room located in Jackson, represents flying, vintage airplanes and living in a home on a grass runway surrounded by tress. Our wines are offered for tasting in a beautiful Tasting Room overlooking the grass runway with the theme, open cockpit biplane logo on every bottle, being vintage aviation. Our Airpark location is know for it's relaxed atmosphere with an emphasis on personal attention~ With the desire to grow our own grapes, having outgrown the hangar and an abundance of requests to host weddings, buses, etc., we acquired 26 acres in Onsted for a vineyard and second venue. The theme, Lorenzo being an international airline pilot, is vintage airline with a 1974 German glider wing for a bar top, vintage destination posters heralding legacy airlines and will eventually dig a barrel cave into the side of a hill. In 2017 we opened Blue Skies Brewery at the new venue and have added hard ciders, a kitchen serving small plates and live entertainment on the weekends. See more..
  3. 4.5 Ella Sharp Museum (57 reviews)
    - A terrific museum with a local history focus and emphasis on the arts
    Tuesday: Speciality Museums
    Ella Sharp Museum image
We drove from an hour away to see the Frida Kahlo's Garden exhibit, which we found compelling and well done; we loved the tie-in with school kids and their take on Friday Kahlo! Stayed for the very interesting Jackson county and city history galleries. Enjoyed the Never Enough Time exhibit of clocks of all shapes and sizes, as well as the Barns: Preserving Architectural Heritage exhibit and the Gallery of Wildlife Art. We loved the variety and scope of the temporary exhibits. We'll keep an eye on new exhibit announcements and look forward to a return visit. Kudos to the museum on a job well-done of keeping guests safe during these COVID times, with taking guest contact info, requiring masks, limiting the number of guests in a gallery, and lots of signs reminding us to social distance. Thank you! See more..
  4. 4.5 Ella Sharp Park (44 reviews)
    - Jackson is fortunate to have this attraction
    Parks
    Ella Sharp Park image
Ella Sharp Park is integral to the community. It has the Ella Sharp Museum, The Peter Hurst Planetarium, softball fields, a driving range, the Round House pavilion, nature trails (although last year the DNR or the city dumped dozens of dead deer on the main trail and they stunk and attracted scavengers, wild dogs and coyotes). My favorite annual activity is Shakespeare in the Park, but there are events on a weekly basis such as car shows, art exhibits and concerts. See more..
