My wife and I visited the Howell Carnegie Library several weeks ago. This is a wonderful facility that offers periodicals, historic pictures of Howell, books on CD, and a book sale every month ($1.00 for hardbacks and $.50 for paperbacks). The employees were helpful, and my wife and I both obtained library cards. This facility is nicer than 90% of the libraries that I have been too. See more..

A friend told me about Markillie and I am glad I stopped by. I believe they are open Labor Day Week-End thru October weekends only. Easy visible from the road, nice clean property. Outside the shop is a playground for the kids and benches for the big kids. They have a nice seating area inside and different food items as well as other items for sale. Cider is available in different sizes and doughnut flavors include plain, sugar cinnamon, blueberry with vanilla icing and cherry with vanilla icing. We went with the old standby - cinnamon sugar. This year for Father's day we tried something new to all of us. Paddle the Mitten was having a Father's day Paddle so I thought why not! PTM was awesome! From the water safety review to a thorough explanation of getting on the board via land and how to get back on 'if' we fell in the water. It was a no rush atmosphere to stand up everyone worked at their own pace and once we were all up it was so much fun. Our girls (12/16) have asked to do it again and we are planning another adventure in July with PTM. Thanks PTM and we will see you soon!! P.S. This visit was a family one but can be done in all suggested categories below - I can only choose one for this review its family but would be great for couples, with friends or even solo so you can make new friends. Not surpassingly with Michigan weather, we had to reschedule a few times but the pilot/owner was excellent in communicating and giving us some flexibility options to get our flight in. It was worth the wait! We enjoyed watching the process of the balloon getting set up and our Sunday morning flight was absolutely gorgeous. I couldn’t believe how smooth and peaceful it was. The whole team at Michigan Hot Air Adventure were fantastic and I will enthusiastically recommend them to anyone for a hot air balloon flight. See more..

My wife and I stopped I. To look for k knickknacks and furniture items for our new parlor. The place is much larger than perceived from the street. You go in and the aisles never end. I believe there are 4-5 separate areas. We walked around for a couple of hours (got lost once) and checked out many of the stalls. The selection of items that appealed to us was limited, but you need to check out every book and cranny to ensure you don't miss the one thing you are looking for. As a matter of fact, the items that appealed to us most were found on our second time through. We ended up purchasing an old travel trunk and a small table (cigarette table). I recommend haggling as the employees had no problem knocking off 5-10%. We found other items that we plan to go back and pick up as well. See photos. Over the past couple months I made several hikes oh the trails available in the park. During the summer, the dense trees, well maintained trails and beautiful scenery mad for a peaceful, meditative walk. In the last couple weeks I was able to return for an Autumn Colors hike with the Sierra Club. The changes were incredible and breathtaking. The bright reds, deep oranges and mellow browns truly make you believe in the existence of a greater power. Come for a visit and appreciate the beauty of Livingston County. See more..

My husband and I were introduced to the Howell Nature Center when Fox 2 News aired two segments featuring two Howell Nature Center residents--a snow owl and an eagle. The Howell Nature Center has an animal clinic that provides treatment to animals injured in the wild. If the animals cannot be reintroduced to the wild, they will provide a permanent home for them. The animals have large habitats where they can roam and enjoy life. The Howell Nature Center gives visitors the opportunity to see animals they would not normally see. They also offer educational programs and overnight stays for groups of children. We definitely recommend the Howell Nature Center. They do good work!! See more..
