Sunday is the Fun day at the Depot and Caboose
We visit the historic depot and caboose often and find something new every time. The Moris Code telegraph taps out train messages. Kids get to ring the train bell. The informative staff answers every question. We learn a lot of history every time we visit. Kids can play and picnic on the grounds. It is a hidden gem in the small town of Howell. If you are lucky, you get to see a 30 car train toot its way through town.

A Old Railroad Station Now A Museum
The Old Railroad Station dating from 1886 is now a museum. Unfortunately when we visited it was closed. The building appears to be in good repair and nicely painted. A State of Michigan historical marker gives the history of the railroad and the City of Howell. A old caboose is next to the library and there is an old signal canon on the lawn.

A Peek into Local History
Although not open a lot, if it IS open, you should take the time to visit. Seeing the inside of this historic train depot is really fun, and they have a nice collection of items from Howell's history. Seeing how railroads were operated in the 1800's is really an eye-opener!
