We did glacier cruises, water rafting, hiking, bus tours, and glacier trekking in Alaska, and I want to say glacier trekking is the best. We got to step on the glacier, taste the ice, and drink the glacier water. We are a group of 14 people with young children and teens. Our guides, Kandel and Taylor, were very patient with us from the beginning to the end. They also provided educational information that the kids felt they were fascinating. Betsy, our tour guide was wonderful. She made the glacier hike a memorable experience for our 11 year old son and us. I would recommend Nova over Mica guides. We had a flat tire and missed our prepaid glacier hike with Mica guides. Mica had spots available on a later tour the same day but wanted us to pay $300 again to rebook. Be careful if you book with Mica in advance. They will take your money and throw their nonrefundable policy at you. Nova on the other hand gave us a 10% discount because after learning about the day we had without us even asking. Nova also does not charge full price for children under 12. Tommy is absolutely a great tour-guide, ATV teacher, and gentleman. Our flight was delayed and we would have missed our tour, but Tommy (Phillips) moved our tour to the next day without hesitation. The tour itself was a blast and my family enjoyed the combination UTV/ATV experience (we were all first-time drivers and Tommy couldn't have been nicer/more patient). SO MUCH FUN!!! We did both lines today and couldn't be ANY happier. Bethany and Lukas totally catered to our fears, our hopes, and helped -no ROCKED - making our first time experiencing this adventure together as absolutely incredible as possible!! 10/10 would do it again and recommend for others to channel their braveness as it was the highlight of my husbands birthday adventure. We took the “Bucket List “ tour in June 2022. We’ve flown over and landed on other glaciers in recent years, but this trip over and onto the Matanuska glacier demonstrated just how unique this glacier is. The highlight was landing and disembarking along the edge of a small lake that exists atop the glacier on top of 400 feet of ice. Mark, our pilot and owner of Sheep Mountain Lodge, gave us a great ride, provided expert commentary, and was focused on ensuring we had a great time. See more..

We had a fabulous time on the Glacier trek on Matanuska Glacier with Mitch and Drew. These guides taught us so much about the glacier. They were fun and engaging while keeping us all safe. What an incredible experience! We had a group of 7, ranging in age from 12 to 43 with varying physical aptitudes. Everyone had a great time. They provided all the gear we needed. Since we had a rental RV, we even got to camp in their parking lot for free. Amazing! See more..

We took a helicopter tour with Matanuska Glacier Helicopters and had a wonderful time. First, a quick flight up to the glacier where we landed for a fantastic hike with our guide. There was nothing like being way up on the glacier, just us, listening to nothing but the glacier! Hiking around, seeing the features, tasting the glacial waters... it was amazing. Then we were picked up by the copter and treated to a longer flight over the glacier and the surrounding area. Indescribably beautiful. The experience was a once in a lifetime adventure. See more..

Our group was 10 people. We've taken a walk near the glacier. All equipped with hiking sticks and ad-on spikes. It really has helped us "to stay in vertical position". Whenever you go over the ice, it's good to have these add-on spikes and the sticks too. I was surprised how big this glacier is. From the far it doesn't look so missive. During our walk I've taken many pictures which I've already shared with my friends. This is great attraction, worth time and money spent. I recommend it! RomanP See more..
