    Hartley's Original Pork Pies image
Over 100 years they have been making these tings. there is a reason that they lasted so long. The recipe is from the old English country pork pies. You will never find better anywhere. They also sell Chicken, meat,, chourico, and salmon. But, the natives know that the best is still the original pork. many of the local offices get together and make "pork pie runs" for everybody to have a big meal on Fridays. If you are in Fall Rive its worth a stop, or to make a picnic near the battleship ( get them hot). the only thing wrong is they are stuck in the 1890's no internet, no UPS, no shipping. See more..

We had a couple of hours to kill on our recent visit to Fall River as the Lizzie Borden house doesn't start tours until 11am (because it's also an operating bed and breakfast). So we found this park and stopped here to let our 7 year old son get out some of his energy. It is a very pretty park with lots of playground equipment for kids. There were several kids there and my son made some new friends while he played. It was a nice cool sunny morning and my wife and I enjoyed just sitting and relaxing and watching our son and the other kids play. See more..

We visited on the recommendation of our Portuguese neighbors and loved the experience. We started with espresso and cappuccino in the cafe - very nice. Then checked out the wine selections and chose an inexpensive green wine. It would have been nice to have the option of wine tastings. We got a variety of cooked foods (bacalhua, octopus, cacoila and catchups), fresh cow cheese, roasted fava beans and pops and were glad to have the chance to sample some prepared foods. The oils, plentiful fish (canned and special room for salted cod), barrels with nuts/beans etc all made for a really interesting shopping experience. The only down side was not knowing the lingo and how to order from deli but staff were really helpful. See more..

We came in from out of town for a funeral. We needed to see the Stanley Cup play-off game and found a welcoming space at Scotties. We would be here for the game so we took our time and was never rushed by our wonderful waitress, Kim. 3 beers and some clam cakes, clam chowder, buffalo chicken tenders, mussel bowl, and Scotties cheeseburger sliders did not disappoint. Great sports coverage and great music at the correct volume ( you heard it well and still be able to talk with your table). We would come back to this hidden gem in heartbeat See more..

    - Great dark brews--choice of Iron Works, less sweet, and Maplecroft (named for Lizzie Borden's last home)
    Wednesday: Spent 1-2 hours Breweries
    Troy City Brewing image
No food, a drawback, but great brews. Try the Anawan, named for the Street. Opens at Noon on Saturday, and we never have a brew later than two--a habit picked up in UK, where hamburgs were $18 (£12) in the 90's, and still are, but the relative cost has diminished. Consequently, as a prof there to write books at the British Library, we'd share a hamburg, or jacket potato later, and have a brew (£2 back then) for lunch. Names important here, including Troy City, an early name of Fall River. See more..
