BLM Arctic Circle Monument Sign image
If you are planning a trip on the Dalton Highway, then you must stop. It is just a sign off the main road, but it's the entrance to the Artic Circle!! We visited in January 2022 and the Dalton was covered in snow and ice. We had a 4x4 with studded tires, so the drive wasn't too terrifying (but it was definitely scary). We saw 1 bird during our visit, and that was it. It was -25 degrees below zero, so I am sure most of the furry creatures were hunkered down trying to stay warm. See more..

    Angel Rocks Trail image
If you don’t want to deal with a trail full of tourists, I definitely recommend going early in the day and during the week. The trail was well marked with some nice off shoots for getting sweep valley views. It’s a pretty rough trek up, better for people at least moderately in shape or who can take it slow. I saw plenty of birds and red squirrels. Sadly, no bear or moose. See more..

We did not expect this exhibit. We had no idea that this was part of the train station. This is a very well managed exhibit. 30. 3.5 Fairbanks Ice Museum (358 reviews)
    - Beautiful art
Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums
    Fairbanks Ice Museum image
The museum is located in downtown Fairbanks and parking is difficult, even more so for us driving a 25 foot RV. We dropped in to see if there was a time opening. We were allowed to join in on the tour that just started. After watching a film you were invited backstage to see many small ice sculptures. The backstage is kept at 20 degrees to keep the ice from melting. And they have parkas available to use so we were comfortable. We even rode the sled down a small ice slide. Afterwards, we watched a short demonstration in ice carving—and we were amazed at the beautiful work the artists can do. Wow! When you can’t be in Fairbanks to see the making of the BIG sculptures in the winter, this summer tour is beautiful. But for the $15 entrance fee, you would expect a little more. See more..
