The museum is located in downtown Fairbanks and parking is difficult, even more so for us driving a 25 foot RV. We dropped in to see if there was a time opening. We were allowed to join in on the tour that just started. After watching a film you were invited backstage to see many small ice sculptures. The backstage is kept at 20 degrees to keep the ice from melting. And they have parkas available to use so we were comfortable. We even rode the sled down a small ice slide. Afterwards, we watched a short demonstration in ice carving—and we were amazed at the beautiful work the artists can do. Wow! When you can’t be in Fairbanks to see the making of the BIG sculptures in the winter, this summer tour is beautiful. But for the $15 entrance fee, you would expect a little more. See more..

We did not expect this exhibit. We had no idea that this was part of the train station. This is a very well managed exhibit. The local model train group designed the exhibit and they have an attendant in the room to discuss and share about what you are seeing. The exhibit replicates sections of the rail between Fairbanks and Denali and offers an interesting insight into what is to come as you travel south. See more..
