The Ducktown Basin Museum is located on the historic mine site, which was the headquarters for Tennessee Copper Company and Cities Service mining operations from 1899 through 1975. An audiovisual presentation provides a brief historical introduction to the museum and its collection, which includes artifacts, photographs and displays depicting the industrial and cultural heritage of this former mining community. Larger artifacts are displayed on the grounds just outside the museum office.See more..
Campground is small but right on the Ocoee river. Stayed three nights tent camping. Loved the sound of the river at night. Several vault toilets and then a main bath house with showers near the camp entrance. $12/night, near the white water center, lots of trails for biking and hiking (TANASI trail system). I recommend going to ducktown/Mccaysville for food, it's a shorter drive then heading West toward Chattanooga. We biked the copper road trail, the rhodendron and some of the bear paw loop. Would go back again. There is also free parking for those who use the trails..See more..
