Wine tasting - There is an inside shop / bar area and a large patio with seating for a group. During the tasting we tried 6 wines (3 red / 3 white), most were local too! You can tell that the owners are genuinely passionate and knowledgeable about wine. We were given tips on how to correctly taste and received detailed information on the origins and profile of each bottle before trying. If you find a wine that you like, you can buy it afterwards and get to keep the tasting glasses as a souvenir. Overall, there is a very friendly and relaxed vibe. See more..

Chappell Hill Historical Society Museum image
This is a gem of a museum right outside Houston in historic Chappell Hill very close to Washington on the Brazos. If you are heading out to Austin or just want to get out of the city, head to this museum and see what was going on in your area a two hundred years ago. There is a few great cafes very close and very cute antique stores as well. See more..

The Bluebonnet House & Garden Center image
Stepping into the garden area to the side of the shop is a treat. Healthy native plants attract the true gardeners and the appealing displays keep the rest of the party happy. We were on a quest to see Texas wildflowers and stopped in Chappell Hill for a break. The Bluebonnet House seemed the perfect place to browse, and we all ended up buying gifts and gifts for ourselves. Jewelry from local and national artisans, vintage collectibles, Texana, and garden attractions made this shop one we will visit again. Living in Houston, I will make the drive again when the season changes. It was the freshness of the display and the hospitality of the employees that made it memorable. See more..
  7. 4.5 Masonic Cemetery (2 reviews)
    - I love old cemeteries - especially historic ones
    Spent < 1 hour Cemeteries
    Masonic Cemetery image
If you love visiting old cemeteries, don't miss this one. I wandered around for at least an hour taking photos of the old gravestones and monument - most from the 1800s. Many had masonic symbols on them and lots of the graves had special stones listing their military service in the civil war (this is the south, so most are confederates). Some of them served in the Texas republic army and those have special markers. Some of the Alamo soldiers families are buried here like the Travis and Crocket familes. Very interesting and historic. My dogs (on leash) were with me and they loved it there too. See more..
