Great Texas Museum right outside Houston

This is a gem of a museum right outside Houston in historic Chappell Hill very close to Washington on the Brazos. If you are heading out to Austin or just want to get out of the city, head to this museum and see what was going on in your area a two hundred years ago. There is a few great cafes very close and very cute antique stores as well.

    Family fun
We came for the blue bonnet festival but we were told they bloomed early. There were just a few but still a great day. Love the history in this town. The birth place of Texas! A Polish settlement. The museum is in the old elementary school, the site of the old college that was destroyed. The people are nice, helpful, and friendly. So glad we came.

    Great little museum
We visited here recently while on a quest to see bluebonnets. We love small town museums and this one didn't disappoint. There is much to see regarding the history of Chappell Hill, its Polish heritage, plantation life, the War Between the States and much more. The building that houses the museum was originally an early college and finally ended up as a public school building. An original stage curtain was recently restored and we were able to see it in all of its beauty! Go see this museum as they need more visitors. You won't be disappointed!
