- 5.0 Mushroom Island (Tomba Tuni) (3 reviews)
-Great Dive Site
Islands
We had a lovely wall dive at Tomba Tuni. Even though the rain squalls had reduced visibility we saw lots. We had a white tip shark cruise past, barracuda, trevally, jacks and sweetlips.. The wall itself is just magic with so much colour and life. We were so impressed with the huge barrel sponges and gorgonian fern corals, one of which had a tiny Pygmy Seahorse. Lots of colourful butterflyfish, elusive angelfish and the ever defensive anenomefish. We also had our surface interval on Tomba Tuni Island under the shade of the big old coconut palms. See more..

Islands
The Tetepare Descendents' Association (TDA) represents all the customary landowners of Tetepare Island, the largest uninhabited island in the south Pacific. They run an eco-tourism resort on one tip of the unspoiled island. Warfare, magic or famine drove the inhabitants away over a hundred years ago, but bloodlines strongly tie them to the island still. They came together in the 90s to save the island from being logged. Its website is www.tetepare.org. There you will find lots of lovely photos and more information. Visit the island and see endangered species like leatherback turtles, and unique ones like the Tetepare White Eye. Live in a lovely leaf house and sample gorgeous local food.
