Andie and Andrew are wonderful hosts who have created the ultimate Solomon Islands experience that doesn’t cost a fortune. We spent 4 days diving with Andrew, exploring unchartered waters and taking in the wonderful colours of the coral and fish. The dives did not disappoint and we saw sharks, turtles, rays and loads of other fish. After a long day of diving, we came back to delicious meals cooked by Andie and her team. Her fish curry is to die for and her coconut crab is one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. Thank you Andrew, Andie, all the kids and the whole team for a wonderful experience. See more..
- 5.0 St Peter the Apostle Catholic Cathedral Gizo (5 reviews)
-Risen from the ruins
Spent 1-2 hours Points of Interest & Landmarks • Churches & Cathedrals
The original cathedral was severely damaged in the 2007 earthquake and tsunami and has been completely rebuilt. It is a lovely building with a very striking picture behind the altar and many other pictures, some in a local style around the nave. I especially liked the designs on the pillars which showed traditional patterns and motifs. A little off the main road it is not immediately obvious but it is well worth searching out and spending some quiet moments there. See more..

A popular dive spot, this sunken Japanese ship was wrecked in 1943. See more..
- 5.0 Marovo Lagoon (1 review)
-One of the best places in the Solomons!
Bodies of Water
We spent several weeks cruising on our private sailboat in Marovo Lagoon. It's a special place, with very nice people. The diving was good (in the passes and outside the reef). We bought many beautiful hand carved wood carvings. See more..
- 5.0 Tetepare Island (1 review)
-The biggest uninhabited island in the southern hemisphere
Islands
This tropical volcanic island is an oasis of unspoiled rainforest in an ocean of atolls and isles that form the Solomon Islands archipelago. Its inhabitants fled the island some two hundred years ago, but the diaspora know their genealogy and where they fit in as customary landowners. Some of them saved the island from logging in the 90s and it is now a conservation area with both rare and unique species of marine and land life as well as virgin rainforest and a wealth of 'taboo' sites where ancestors' skulls and other artefacts rest. There is a well-equipped leaf house eco-lodge at one end of the island, where visitors are fed glorious fresh local seafood, fruit and veg as well as being entertained with tales of Tetepare culture, myths and legends. An adventure trail takes visitors along the spine of the 27km island, while local rangers share turtle nesting and other wildlife wonders with them. Tetepare is a couple of hours by small plane and outboard motor canoe from the capital Honiara. See more..

- 4.5 Dive Gizo (76 reviews)
-Another fantastic trip to the Solomons and Dive Gizo
Saturday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Scuba & Snorkelling
It was another fantastic trip to the Solomons. Dive Gizo made it a special weekend with a day of diving. Where else can you see more beautiful fish than you can count and WWII planes and ships. Truly a unique experience. While I expect great diving in the Solomons, it’s really the people who can determine what kind of experience it is. It’s always great to see Danny and Kerrie Kennedy and it was truly a pleasure diving with Rueben. He is knowledgeable, patient and kind. It was his attitude that gave me the fond memories that I have of that weekend. I can’t wait for my next trip to the Solomons and Dive Gizo. See more..

- 4.0 Saeraghi Village (3 reviews)
-This P&O excursion was a real treat, so glad we went
Historic Sites
This was a great P&O tour from the banana boat ride over to the village to the bus ride back through lots of villages at the end of the four hour visit. On arrival we were greeted by some young, 'scary' warriors, then treated to entertainment while seated in the shade. Unfortunately there was no fresh coconut drink provided as advertised in the tour information however the cooking demonstration included food tasting which was very good. We were encouraged to walk around the village and everyone was very friendly and happy to chat. The beach is pristine and partly shaded by a giant tree. The roads are unsealedso the bus trip back was bumpy and slow but afforded plenty of opportunities to see local life. A wonderful experience but you definitely need to take water with you. The tour finished earlier than advertised but was definitely long enough and got us back to the ship in time for a late lunch. See more..
