What a one of a kind experience!! Such unique veggies and fruits for sale, although be careful to sample unwashed fruits! My traveling companion got very ill with ecoli after a taste of raw cut fruit! Otherwise the beautiful people here are a treasure! I feel so connected to them maybe from ancient lifetimes ago. Nice small museum with exhibits from early outside contact, World War II and early days of Goroka. J.K. McCarthy was one of PNG’s early patrol officers who wrote the classic book on New Guinea patrolling - Patrol into Yesterday. An P-39 Aircobra aircraft is mounted on display outside the museum. Contains nice displays of weapons, both early local and those excavated after the war, great local artwork, the only thing off limits to photos is the human finger bone necklaces. Part of the PNG National Museum system, the six display galleries include the Niugini Room, Giddings Gallery, Leahy Wing, Soso Subi Gallery and the Archaeological Room. The river is ideal for white water rafting. We (locals) use inflatable car/truck tubes to float on it. We usually go upstream and raft our way downstream and stop wherever we like. For us it can take 2 - 3 hrs of rafting before we end the trip and go home. There are some grade V rapids that we could not pass through so we stop, skip and continue further down. Visitors especially those strong-willed & energetic ones can bring their own rafters to raft on it. Currently, there's no establishment that one can get through them. An isolated arrangement can be done to give visitors their chance to raft the river.I bet you'll get the most thrilling experience of a life time. Friendly local teens can be your guide and rafting can be done all-year round. See more..

We visited PNG in September 2019. Pym almost organized our whole trip (we stayed in the Western Highlands and Sepik Region). Contacting was very easy via e-mail and everything was exceptionally well planned and organized. Pym cared for us very well. As PNG has a bad reputation regarding safety, we always felt perfectly safe with Pym and his team. Our guides all were very professional and knowledgeable (special thanks to Luc, Andrew, Joshua and last but not least to Peter for the good food!) and made our journey magnificent.
