  1. 5.0 Adventure Kokoda (346 reviews)
    - Kokoda - what an unbelievable experience.
    Multi-day Tours
    Adventure Kokoda image
No words can describe the experience of doing The Kokoda Trek with Adventure Kokoda. Everything from the start to the end was as perfect as possible, and the support, information and actual trek was absolutely out of this world. I could go on for days but I won't. If you're considering doing Kokoda, then the team at Adventure Kokoda are the only ones to choose! Loved it. Absolutely loved it. See more..
  2. 5.0 Bomana War Cemetery (296 reviews)
    - Bomana - A peaceful resting place
    Cemeteries
    Bomana War Cemetery image
Such a beautifully maintained cemetery to visit and pay tribute to those who fought so bravely. On my visit a guard provided a good overview of the place as good as any tour guide (I gave him a tip but believe he wasn’t expecting one). I’m likely to return to sit under one of the massive trees and read a book while occasionally looking up and acknowledging how lucky I am because of the sacrifice of the brave men who lie here. A must visit for anyone from the commonwealth and especially Australia. See more..
  3. 5.0 Reeftours Milne Bay (102 reviews)
    - Our wonderful visit to Alatou
    Sightseeing Tours
    Reeftours Milne Bay image
If your heading to PNG especially visiting Alatou, booking a tour with Shanniah at Reef Resorts is a must. We had the most memorable day ever on this cruise ship stop and left with wonderful memories. This is not just a tour it’s sharing and experiencing the real life of families and children for a short time. My one tip, if your bringing gifts for the school make sure you get your immigration form and clearance done. I left mine too late and couldn’t take what I had bought for the kids. A lady on our trip took frisbees and the kids were so excited at this simple gift. We experienced Shanniah’s wonderful family and they shared their life with us from tribal dance to Knocking coconuts down from the trees. It’s an experience I’ll never forget. See more..

    Kokoda Trekking image
In May 2015, we walked the Kokoda Trail with Kokoda Trekking. It's an amazing and unforgetful experience. We've done some trips, Kilimanjaro, Annapurna..., but this is like no others! The untouched jungle, the thick greens, the slippery mud, the swamp, the creeks, the rain, the people, the history, the hardship ... everything about it is one of a kind. The tour guides and porters are very experienced, warm hearted - and great singers! See more..

Arami made us feel welcome from the start, and her confidence and personality was very refreshing. The tours with Alotau Tours with Ben was very rewarding, informative, and opended my eyes to how other people live and appreciate what I have. I highly recommend the Tours with Ben and ask for Arami or she is also known as Rami. See more..

    Daucina Charters Limited image
If you are looking for an off the beaten path monster fish catching experience then you need to hit up Capt Mike with Daucina Charters. One of the finest captains I have had the pleasure of fishing with. We booked 5 days and every day Mike put us on fish. We caught 24 different species with many trophies including Dino Trout, GTs and an unofficial world record Maori Snapper. Every cast or every drop you need to be prepared to hook a fish of a lifetime. This trip will test you physically but if you put in your casts and reps then you are guaranteed fish. I hopefully will be able to make the trip back across the world to enjoy this unique fishing experience again soon! See more..

    Taxis & Shuttles
I could not be happy with the amazing service being provided by TC. They were always on time, flexible and nothing ever seemed a problem. All staff were delightful and helpful. Joseph's organisation couldn't be faulted. Thanks for making my stay so easy! I will tell everyone about TC! See more..

    Owers' Corner image
I went to Owers' Corner with the Kokoda Memorial Foundation to re paint the 25 pounder, the Arch and the flag poles. They look so much better even if you don't walk the Track. If you are in Port Moresby it is a great Day trip. See more..
  9. 5.0 Kapa Kapa Trail (1 review)
    - Hiking and cultural experience like no other
    Hiking Trails
    Kapa Kapa Trail image
I hiked the Kapa Kapa Trail with Getaway Trekking in 2018, 76 years after my grandfather did it in World War II as part of the 32nd Division's Ghost Mountain boys. The trek had special significance for me, but it was so much more than that. The hiking is difficult. You are always hiking uphill or downhill; there is almost no level ground. It takes about three weeks to hike, so it is a big time commitment, but it is worth it! The people are amazing - friendly and kind. They welcomed us into their villages with music and with food. There were a few nights of bush camping, but most nights were spent in huts in the villages along the trail Our porters were patient, and helpful. They helped me in so many ways, from a hand up (or down) to words of encouragement when the going was tough. Our trek leader was Peter Gamgee from Getaway Trekking, who has been working to make the a trail a tourist destination, but in a way that is culturally appropriate - and not have it turn into an overly commercialized tourist trap. Between Peter and the porters, we were in good hands. It is hard to put into words how much this trip meant to me. We heard stories from an elderly villager at Gabagaba about when the American soldiers came. I sat with the son and grandson of one of the PNG WWII carriers. I stood on the beach at Buna where my grandfather had his photo taken during the war. Few people hike this trail, and that makes it very special. It is so natural and unspoiled. The terrain is rugged and beautiful. I especially loved the cool, mossy trees on Ghost Mountain. If you are interested in WWII history, go. If you love to hike in wild places, go. If you love to immerse yourself in other cultures, go. There are so many reasons to hike the Kapa Kapa Trail. If you want to learn more about the trail, read "The Kapa Kapa Trail" by Peter Gamgee. To learn more about the American soldiers and their trek across the trail, read "The Ghost Mountain Boys" by James Campbell. See more..
  10. 5.0 Gerehu Market (1 review)
    - Market
    Farmers Markets
This place is located some meters away from Port Moresby Nature Park. It is where the locals come and sell their cash crops or other plant products. There also are shops owned by people from Bangledash. It is a noisy area and full of a throng of people. It is also filthy and i would not recommend visitors to got there. This is because there are thiefs there and if you are a foreigner, you can be targeted. Stay safe while visiting in Papua New Guinea. See more..

The park is home to over 550 native animals including bird of paradise, tree-kangaroos, cassowaries, wallabies, reptiles and many, many parrot and other bird species. The grounds also offer a lush change from the hustle and bustle of Port Moresby City with the only rainforest tract within the Capital City. 13. 4.5 Alotau Land Tours (84 reviews)
    - What a memorable day
    Cultural Tours • 4WD, ATV & Off-Road Tours • Private Tours
    Alotau Land Tours image
We booked our tour with Alotau Land tours before we left Adelaide after reading a number of good reviews, and we were not disappointed. Our emails with Cathy were answered promptly including questions I asked, one of them being what gifts to bring. I bought gifts for the hospital and was thrilled to be able to distribute them. What lovely people we met, including Wilma, Jeanette, drivers and helpers. They could not have done more to make our day. We visited the hospital, a school and 2 private homes as well as views from the lookout. When we got back to the ship and discussed what we had done, it was obvious that we saw and did more than the cruise ship tours. Some people just walked into town and visited the markets and were quite disappoined, so I would suggest that guest coming would find it much more interesting if they booked this tour. 14. 4.5 Kitava Island (81 reviews)
    - Pristine island
    Islands
    Kitava Island image
We absolutely loved this beautiful pristine island with its stunning white sandy beaches & bright turquoise waters perfect for snorkeling. Kitava Island sits just off the main island of Kiriwina. The people live self efficiently without electricity, running water or modern amenities. It’s like stepping back a thousand years. Across the shore is another tiny island called Nuratu which the locals will take you across in their timber made boats for a small fee. The locals perform two sets of traditional dancers on the beach & the local kids sing songs for donations for their education. The locals will also provide guided tours to Kumagea Village. There are a few stalls set up by the locals selling their homemade products. Local Kina money is definitely preferred. We found Kitava Island to be the best island due to the friendly local people . Kwalia Adventure & Expeditions image
We are a group of seniors from Kirrawee Probus and we hired Kwalia Adventure and Expeditions for an exclusive tour after arriving on the QE. Jenny and I had many emails to make sure that this trip worked. Jenny put together a tour of the town, lookout, craft market etc. with the best part being going to a local school where the children sang for us and we brought gifts in the way of stationary for the children which the teachers much appreciated. Thank you for a great time See more..
  17. 4.5 Kiriwina Island (18 reviews)
    - Kiriwina Island 4-Night Stay
    Spent 2-3 hours Islands
    Kiriwina Island image
Having read some of the recent cruise ship island stop reviews, I felt I needed to comment. In 2018, as part of an Eldertreks 20+ day PNG tour, we spent four nights on Kiriwina. And, that explains the difference between a visit of a few hours, and an extended stay. The island was beautiful, the people most welcoming and happy to share their traditional culture. Never was there a sense of "pressure to purchase". I have since learned that the Eldertreks itinerary is quite unique as most PNG tours do not include the Trobriand Islands - lucky us! A cruise ship port of call experience has its limitations. See more..

    Aioni Tours image
Shane was terrific, he took us to small villages, where we were treated to a good feed of the freshest and best tasting fruit, the villagers were so welcoming. Shane's passion for promoting his home is evident and he is a fantastic tour guide. The walk to the skull caves requires some level of fitness but is worth it. We also appreciated how flexible Shane was with our tour, adapting to suit our requests. Thank you Shane for an unforgettable experience and allowing us to see some of the real PNG culture and lifestyle. See more..
  20. 4.5 Sirinumu Dam (4 reviews)
    - Best weekend lake destination outside Port Moresby
    Spent 1-2 hours Dams
    Sirinumu Dam image
The landscape south of Sogeri is dominated by Lake Sirinumu, a huge water reservoir created by the damming of the Upper Laloki River in 1963 and flooding the surrounding land. Water from the reservoir is piped down Rouna Gorge to run a hydro-electric plant and also to supply town water for Port Moresby city. Activities at the lake include boating, fishing, water sports, bird watching and hiking. See more..

Whilst a little way out of Port Moresby it is worth the trip to this Park. Entry to the main park is free and this allows you to walk the extensive grounds and view the numerous animal enclosures. For just a few Kina you can visit the magnificent Orchid Gardens (outstanding) and the exotic birds enclosure. If you have kids there is also a water slide, play area and Ferris wheel. A great attraction See more..
  25. 4.0 National Orchid Garden (52 reviews)
    - Amazing gardens!
    Spent 1-2 hours Gardens
    National Orchid Garden image
It is one of my favorite places in Port Moresby. It is a great place to see plenty of beautiful orchids, they have a great collection. It is also a wonderful place to have a walk and get some fresh air just 30 min. drive from Port Moresby. It is located in Adventure Park, on Sogeri Road a few miles after Bomona War Cemetery. The entrance fee is 5 Kinas, which also give you access to the beautiful aviary where you can see a lot of colorful and noisy parrots, birds of paradise and some other PNG birds. As it is inside the Adventure Park after visiting Orchids Garden you can take a walk in the Park (for free) to see some tree kangaroos and wallabys or just hang out on the lawn by the lake. Even if you are not an orchids addict it is worth it! See more..

  27. 4.0 Paradise Cinema (41 reviews)
    - Nice Cinema, Scary City
    Movie Theaters
    Paradise Cinema image
Port Moresby in Papau New Guinea has to be one of the most dangerous cities in the world. So what could be more fun than going to the movies? Once we made it to the Mall from the hotel (an adventure in itself) we could have been in a small town cinema anywhere in the US. You have to select specific seats, which is unusual, but other than that the place is clean and comfortable and a nice respite from the "Rascals" and gunshots of the city. See more..
