    Chipinque A.B.P. Ecological Park image
My husband and I went here for a run/hike. Although there was plenty of parking lots since it was a perfect day weather wise and a Sunday it was very busy. Expect to take some time to park but know it is worth it. Tons of trails and a great place for hikes, runs and biking. We even found a gigantic cement slide to try, just a very pleasant park. Some restrooms and water fountains are available but I would suggest bringing water. See more..

  6. 4.5 Grutas de Garcia (925 reviews)
    - Worth the visit!
    Closed now Caverns & Caves
    Grutas de Garcia image
The place opens at 9am, ride from our hotel near Galerías Monterrey took 53mins. I recommend you to rent a car or book a tour, because it’s hard to find an Uber there when coming back.

We arrived at 9:20 and took the first aerial tramway to the mountain at 10am (I suppose they wait to have enough people to fill each trip) there is also a walk path ($50 mxn without the tramway ride)

The ticket price is $80 mxn. It includes the tramway ride, the museum and a guided tour into the caves. The tour lasts aprox 45mins to 1hour and consists of ~600 steps (but it’s actually not hard) it’s also not cold inside the caves so you are good with shorts and tenis

At the entrance of the caves there is a small area to buy snacks or drinks but just the basic thinks (beer, popcorn, etc)

Especially for young kids and teens, this museum not only provides a very detailed explanation of the Desert ecosystem and the desert in the context of Mexico, but it also shares an extraordinary collection of authentic dinosaurs' fossils discovered in Coahuila and elsewhere, including two T-Rex complete fossil and a unique fossil of a huge dinosaur found in Mexico, the Velafrons Cohahuilensis. As well as some exciting animatronics of different dinosaurs. Additionally, it provides a complete ethnographic and zoologic overview of Mexican history. In Chihuahua, a Must See. The exterior is amazing, and easily accessible if you're staying in Centro. The interior is stunning, with baroque, roccocco, and Art Nouveau elements. The staff is very helpful, even if you don't speak much Spanish. I speak almost none, but the staff very graciously helped me understand some of the background behind the interior elements. I've been quite a few times inside the church, it is just beautiful, not only from the outside, with its two slender three-story towers, but also inside. I've been also lucky enough to enjoy the music played on its organ, the experience is absolutely divine. I can tell why people find comfort inside, it is a place for praying and reconnecting with your divinity. See more..

    Beaches
    Playa Bonita Beach image
We have been spending January and February at the RV park for several years and always look forward to coming back. The beach is wide, clean and patrolled. It is family orientated and close to many town services. Highly recommend. They do have beach front sites available for a slight extra up charge. Some sites might be tight for 40 ft plus units but it is workable. Friendly atmosphere. Showers, laundry and reading/TV room with WiFi. WiFi though out park is spotty sometimes but reading room is all ways available. AND if you need any vehicle or RV repairs, repainting, cleaning interior and exterior, awning repairs, reupholstering...this is THE ONLY place to have that kind of work done. Check with Chuy. 19. 4.5 Catedral de Santiago de Saltillo (262 reviews)

A marvel of Colonial and religious heritage in the Coahuila Capital city. The Cathedral of Santiago de Saltillo is the Roman Catholic worshiping our Saint Christ, was built from 1745 until 1800 besides an origonao temple by the priest Don Felipe Suarez de Estrada. The Pope Leon XIII assigned this gorgeous building as the official Cathedral of Coahuila province through the Papal Bull of June 23rd 1891. The Saltillo Cathedral in a Spanish Barroque style is the tallest Cathedral in North Mexico, and among the tallest in Mexico. Every August 6th, Saltillo and the Cathedral celebrate the Saint Christ of the Chapel, the highest devotion figure all around the region. Religious and pagan and a regional Fair takes place all around this amazing holy site. You are cordially invited to visit this and other amazing holy churches in Saltillo. See more..
  20. 4.5 Historical Museum of the Mexican Revolution (253 reviews)
    - JFK Portrait at Museum
    History Museums
Historical Museum of the Mexican Revolution image
I visited the "Casa Luz," which I also heard referred to as "Casa Rosada," when Luz Corral was still alive and before it was a museum. She was in wheelchair and died soon after my visit. I'm writing because I remember the Dodge auto, but when I remember it as being inside the building; my memory may be incorrect about that, but I also remember distinctly that there was a framed photo, or probably painting, of JFK on the wall above it; it was the only thing on the wall. It was a familiar depiction of the President that we've all seen. I've looked in the past for info on why the Kennedy portrait was there, if there was a connection, etc., but never found an answer. As others have written, it's well worth a visit. Please note the year of visit is inaccurate; there was no choice that matched my visit but an entry was required. See more..

    - Great Street
    Historic Walking Areas
    Calle Constitucion image
There is a section of this street starting from Plaza des Armas that runs for about 7 blocks that does not have any vehicular traffic except for the cross streets. We were there on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. During the day there are loads of restaurants, shops and coffee/beverage houses and at night it lights up with all kinds of entertainment and people strolling. We were fortunate to see a competition of singers from 10 different universities in Mexico. The singing groups are called 'Tunas' which is a tradition started in Europe in the 1300's and has also found a home in Mexico. The music was great...Spanish folk songs...and even though we did not understand the words it was a wonderful show. See more..

    - Height trip
    Mountains
    Cerro de la Silla image
Climbing the Cerro de la Silla in Monterrey Nuevo León is an incredible experience since you can see a beautiful view of the entire city. The climb to the hill to reach the top is quite tiring but without hesitation, it is worth it, because you can appreciate a part of nature and another part of the construction of the human being. To climb the hill it is necessary to have a good physical condition, without a doubt, the heat and the wind make it a challenge but the reward is worth it, because at the top it is possible to appreciate a moment of a unique view that few can enjoy. To climb safely it is important to always follow the rules and instructions provided. Going up and down takes courage but I would do it again, to be able to appreciate the view that the city of the mountains provides. See more..
