  2. 5.0 Le Jardin De La Montagne (69 reviews)
    - One of the most beautiful places on Martinique
    Gardens
Le Jardin De La Montagne image
Le Jardin de la Montagne chez Babo (Mountain garden by Babo) is one of the most beautiful places in Martinique. It's hidden in the beautiful mountains in height about 400 m above the sea. When you have a small car as we had, be careful, the road will be a bit difficult for you. We stopped under the Coq road and made a short walk to the garden. Nature around is simply amazing! True paradise. Monsieur Babo is very passionate about his flowers and fruits. He or his co-workers will give you a guided tour around. It's in French but we could understand some names and usages of the plants. They have many plants that we have seen before but also many that were new for us and are typical for this part of the world. You just have to visit this beautiful place, just amazing! (Fee is 5 eur.) See more..

  6. 4.5 Anse Dufour (1.329 reviews)
    - Excellent beach with good facilities, good snorkelling
    Beaches
    Anse Dufour image
Fabulous beach, though it is a bit small. It has really good bathroom and changing facilities, which is such a rarity. One area is good for snorkelling with varieties of fish. Sea turtles hang out here as well and that was really the highlight for us. A crowd of snorkelers was out looking around, and three turtles swam through, down to the bottom to feed, up to the top for air and back down again. One of the three was at least a metre long (shell length). Fabulous day! It tends to fill up quickly, and parking is on the side of the road, so for a successful day, plan on getting there no later than 8:30 in the morning, spend a few hours and head out before it gets too crowded. 9. 4.5 Anse Noire (583 reviews)
    - Perfect family, low key beach
    Beaches
    Anse Noire image
I wasn’t sure because of some recent mixed reviews, but ended up loving Anse Noir. You need to get there early because parking is TIGHT but we managed to get a space around 10:30am midweek in February. I was glad we went in the morning when I saw the crazy afternoon traffic on the way down the hill that afternoon. Yes there are lots of stairs but when you get down you’ll find a lovely shady, black sand expanse with very gentle swells for the kids. We spent longer than expected and had a lot of fun before walking down the hill for a drink at one of the beachside restaurants at Anse Dufour. See more..
  10. 4.5 La Pointe Marin (531 reviews)

    Beaches
    La Pointe Marin image
This was our home beach as we were renting a house within walking distance. The water was always calm, no big waves. Locals come here in the late afternoon with their children just before the sunset. Lots of places to stay in the shade. We loved it! See more..

  12. 4.5 Anse Figuier (377 reviews)
    - Piece of heaven
    Beaches
    Anse Figuier image
This beach is easily accessible by the N5 road and clearly indicated. It is located near by the Ecomusée de la Martinique. It is in a small creek and a lot of people from the area enjoy going there. A lot of work have been made in the last years to clear the rocks and clean this beach. The water is not deep and clear as crystal. There is free parking, bathrooms and outdoor showers. The salty water helps to float and to relax. The view to St. Lucia and of the Diamond Rock is incredible. The beach feel safe and made us forget everything else. See more..

  14. 4.5 Savane Des Petrifications (206 reviews)
    - Wild side
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Savane Des Petrifications image
We really enjoyed our walk along this coast, being on the Atlantic Ocean, it was rugged and wild. As suggested in many other reviews, water, sunscreen and a sun hat are recommended because of lack of shelter. To get to the starting point you need to drive left along the road behind Salines beach, veer left at the end, there is an information board here, then proceed along this road (cautiously, because of the state of the road) to the car park area at the end. Then on foot, you walk past a camping area, over a bridge and stepping stone area, from here follow the posts, they are numbered. See more..
  15. 4.5 Morne Larcher (135 reviews)
    - Tough climb
    Volcanos
    Morne Larcher image
Difficult trail in the south vest part of Martinique. Near town of Le Diamant. Took 1.5 hrs to climb the mountain on the Diamant site. It had rained so it was quite muddy and slippery. On a dry day I would think it would take about 1 h to the top. If you climb from the other side you can do it a bit faster. See more..
  16. 4.5 Petit Anse (131 reviews)
    - Great snorkeling, great beach
    Beaches
    Petit Anse image
The beach is great, but a bit crowded. We did find shade though and had a wonderful day floating and swimming. Great for snorkeling - bring your own snorkel mask etc, there is no where to rent them. A very short swim from the beach (50-75 yards?) There are some rocks that are like swimming in an aquarium. We did the beach the first day without snorkeling gear and still had a great day, 3 kids and 3 adults happy. We parked just out of town in the free dirt lot. A quick walk to the St. Henry Church and beach. See more..

  19. 4.5 Ranch Anse Macabou (95 reviews)
    - Exactly what we hoped for
    Ranches
    Ranch Anse Macabou image
My teen’s one wish was a horse ride on the beach. Ranche Macabou delivered. We had trouble with a language barrier to book it (I eventually had to have the hotel owner from hotel Corail residence book it for me as I didn’t receive a return contact to my English inquiries. We visited during high season so she did this 6 days in advance for me. Be prepared for a challenge finding it (down a bumpy back road and a hard to see sign on your right) but once you are there be prepared for some amazing scenery on some well cared for and gentle horses. Even with our language barrier they took the time to ensure we communicated our riding experience as best we could and were matched to the proper animal. I have read reviews here that the owner was rude. I did not find him so. He was reserved, but highly professional, at least with us. Definitely worth the trip if you are looking to ride a horse in Martinique. Very well priced too. Just $40 euro per person for two full hours on the trail, tho set aside 3.5 for the full tacking and untacking and to enjoy a grenadine punch with the owner afterwards. See more..
  20. 4.5 Piton de Crêve Cœur (93 reviews)
    - Amazing views!!!

    Piton de Crêve Cœur image
Another great climb to do in Martinique! This e is a good training ground if you want to climb Mont Pelée! Whilst climbing this one we saw I few people doing it twice or even 3 times! They were training to go up Mont Pelée! This will take roughly 2:30 min to do! Including a 30min break at the top to look at the view! You will find a huge compass at the top with drawing of the whole island! At the top you will find a crossroad to go either left or right! If you want to go straight to the top take the left if you want to have a look at the other view point take the right it's only an extra 4min! This was an amazing climb you will have 3 great view point of the island!!! To all climbers and walkers, be safe!!! Take at least 1 litre of water per person! See more..

    - A stark reminder of slavery

    Memorial de l'Anse Caffard image
You don't realise the impact until you really get to the memorial and see the pictures of the ship on how they were transported and it then hits you hard. The white symbolizes mourning in the Caribbean. The triangular shape is the triangular trade between Europe, Africa and the Americas, orientation heading 110° East, the Gulf of Guinea where the boat would likely come. 300 slaves drowned and only 6 survived and they are living in Martinique to tell the stories of the attrocities. The diamond rock & vista point is only 5 mins drive up the road. You can actually see the diamond rock from this place. See more..
