  1. 5.0 Chapelle du Calvaire (2 reviews)
    - Hiking to see the beauty of Chapelle du Calvaire
Spent 1-2 hours Churches & Cathedrals
    Chapelle du Calvaire image
We had to hike to get to the church. That was fun. We decided not to take the rental car. From Fort-de-France near la Savana, we can see the Chapelle du Calvaire. Getting closer to the Chapelle du Calvaire, we can see its beauty! It is a lovely church with a steeple. The church is white. There are spirals on that church and they are orange. The cross is easily seen. It is a few meters from the church. Quite unique! A must see! See more..

We made the trip up to La Favorite before returning to our cruise ship and so glad we did! We were amazed that we could get that close to the actual machinery and see how the rum is made. Very interesting! The tasting room and shop were very nice, had a little taste and then purchased some rum at a great price. Highly recommend! See more..
  5. 4.5 Fontaine Didier (105 reviews)
    - How to get to Didier Waterfall
Spent More than 3 hours Fountains
    Fontaine Didier image
The hike starts at the first water treatment facility on the left side on the road. You can park your car at the side of this location. You will walk through a dark tunnell on the way, after 5-10 min walking - a flash light will be very useful! The walk from your parking (nearly the end of road D45) to the first waterfall is 25 minutes. The first waterfall is nice, but its smaller than the 2nd one. The hike from the first to 2nd waterfall is a bit tricky for kids and old people. You need to climb a bit but you will find ropes that will help you on your way. Wear shoes, not flip-flops. If you are used to hiking, this is not a difficult hike, but watch your step for slippery stones and jungle crabs. You dont need to walk in the river all the way. It will make it more difficult for you. Look for small paths alongside the river. Sometimes you will have to cross the river, but if you find the paths, the crossing from one side to the other will be easy. A beautiful hike in the jungle! Your feet will be wet and the atmosphere is amazing. Makes you feel you are all alone in the middle of the jungle. This hike is not leagle and the police sometimes give out fines at the parking, so be aware. But its worth it anyway ;) See more..
  6. 4.5 Foret Coeur Bouliki (55 reviews)
    - Peaceful heaven
    Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Foret Coeur Bouliki image
Lovely place to enjoy the nature and taking a fresh bath in the river. If you are respectful of the nature, knows how to eat and leave with everything that you came with, knows how to not pollute(eg. Wash car, ect...), you are more than welcome at coeur bouliki. Othewise stay at the swimming pool of the hotel as there people are getting pay to clean after you. Tips: - If you arrive early (10am) you might be able to have one of the table + bench + grill spot. Local families goes there and it is very sweet to see them enjoying themselves. - shower and toilet onsite - no network but it is not needed at all the site has enough to offer to keep anyone entertained - accessible by walk (2h walk I think) and by car. 7. 4.5 Parc Naturel Regional de la Martinique (50 reviews)
    - Long walk... but took my breathe away!
    National Parks
Parc Naturel Regional de la Martinique image
Amazing views! It took us a bit less than 3hrs to walk along one of the 2 possible trails. We took the walk which goes along the beach & a part of the mangrove. I thought I ended up in paradise when we reached those beaches! The trails are a bit tricky & even though it said 'level 1', I wouldn't do it if you're not up to a long 3hr walk with a lot of mud and up- & downhills. Take a bottle of water & take a few breaks! Otherwise, if u're up for a challenge...it is a MUST !!! See more..

  23. 4.0 Galleria Commercial Center (104 reviews)
    - The best shopping mall is the French West Indies
    Shopping Malls
    Galleria Commercial Center image
This is a U.S. inspired air conditioned mall. While it isn't a U.S. "Mega Mall" it is the best you will find in the region. There is Hyper-U grocery store that serves as the anchor and many boutiques a few national franchises and a couple of "good" restaurants that offer Pizza, Hamburgers and French style steaks. Be mindful that there is an "Octroi de Mer" tax imposed on overseas states and territories of France. This means that almost everything is very expensive vis a vis the U.S. The rule of thumb for merchants is that if it costs a Euro in in Paris --- it costs a 1.40 Euros in Martinique. This is not peculiar to this mall, but to the economics of life in the French Indies. There is a small modest hotel attached to the mall. Rooms are clean and provide 10 minute access to the airport. Depending on the season there are souvenirs, etc. Its an interesting place to spend an afternoon to take a break from sightseeing or sailing. See more..
