See more..

  9. 4.5 Distillerie J M (678 reviews)
    - Very nice distillery. Worth to visit
    Saturday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Distilleries • Gardens
    Distillerie J M image
    - Half-day hike
Spent 2-3 hours Nature & Wildlife Areas
    Presqu'ile de la Caravelle image
Very nice hike trail at Caravelle. I did the full route by myself, in Jan 2020. The hike is about 4 hours (including breaks). The trail was clearly marked and maps/signs on every crossroads. Basic trekking shoes / sneakers are needed. Plenty of water (1,5-2 litres) needed. It is best to go clock-wise (Take the left at the beginning). There is an amazing beach at the end of the trail, perfect white sand. See more..
  11. 4.5 Le Tombolo (151 reviews)
    - Big adventure!
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Le Tombolo image
After reading all the comments of how many visitors returned dissappinted for not being able to cross, we didn't have too much expectations - but we gave a try. And we were so lucky to be able to walk through the water to the island and it was so exciting! First we were hesitating as from the shore you can't really see the distance nor the depth, but just when we were examining it, a small group of tourists headed from the island. They had a local guy with them who started to wave toward us to come. So, let's go!! The water wasn't very deep, about knee high, with sometimes bigger waves - but if you don't mind getting wet a bit, you shouldn't miss. See pictures below. A piece of advice: follow your path were the waves from the two sides "meet", there is the less deep. Good luck! :) See more..
  12. 4.5 Le Jardin de Bonneville (36 reviews)
    - MUST DO! Colorful, tasteful, easy, beautiful!
    Gardens
    Le Jardin de Bonneville image
We had a private tour with the owner. She is totally passionnate about her garden. Fruits are very exotic, and you have the chance to taste them all! (as long as they are in season. I recommand to call if you want to be sure). They grow fruits, spices, cocoa, unique exotic rare fruits. The owner is very knowledgeable, we had a great time. See more..
  13. 4.5 La Plage de Sinai (15 reviews)
    - What a nice beach named: The Sinai Beach
Spent 1-2 hours Bodies of Water • Beaches
    La Plage de Sinai image
We passed the marina. It took us 3 minutes to see the "Plage de Sinai". I liked the sand, it was dark brown. We were faced to the ocean. at the left the waves attacked the boulders. There is a nice mountain as well. This is worthwhile to see! See more..
  14. 4.5 Grand Riviere Wharf (3 reviews)
    - The Martinique side where time stood still
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Grand Riviere Wharf image
After driving all the way to Rhum JM we decided that we should continue down this route "less traveled by tourists" and have a lunch in Grand Riviere - this is how we came across this scenic and impressive wharf and I decide to add a profile here so others could experience it and enjoy it the way we did. This is a perfect spot to take a walk after having a lunch in one of the nearby restaurants. Facing north you have Dominica,, and looking back towards the land the massive green, Jurassic Park alike, coastline of Martinique - a very tranquil and relaxing place. TIP: this a very remote area of Martinique which appeared to be pretty "dead" compared to the rest of the island - I highly recommend visiting if you are already heading to Rhum JM as the distance between here and JM is not as long and you are already this far - the 2 unusual bridges and then the one way (with lights changing for each direction on a timer) uphill/downhill leading to Grand Riviere village was also a very cool and scenic part of getting here in itself See more..

    - A special visit to the Ilet Chancel with our friends Iguanas
    Islands
    Ïlet Chancel image
We went by boat to the Ilet Chancel. Our guide told us that there was a fortress here. We were able to see the structures on that island. Supposedly Josephine and Napoleon went to that island. What was the best of this island: The Iguanas. Wow! They were so pretty. We saw also where the soldiers lived here. We enjoyed our tour here. Worthwhile to see! See more..

We stayed two nights at the Plantation de Leyritz in one of the stone cottages. We enjoyed the interesting mix of comfortable room in an historic setting. The grounds are particularly lovely, especially the dining room with its old, vine covered stone wall and stream. Watching the lizards and birds frolic as you dine is the best entertainment. There were a lot of people on this beach. People could swim, others were sunbathing. There were picnic tables. It was noon and we were hungry. All picnic tables were taken. We decided to eat on the sand. We had some birds that watched us. I like the boardwalks. It isn't everywhere, but still there is a great part of the boardwalk. There were trees and the ocean. There were shelters as well. Worthwhile to see! See more..
