- 5.0 El-Saieh Gallery (6 reviews)
-Amazing artwork
Spent < 1 hour Art Galleries • Art Museums
This gallery has a tremendous collection of Haitian paintings, from famous painters to budding new artists. Value is reasonable, and Sharona curates to keep affordable art in stock for those of us visiting without a huge budget. Though she does take credit cards, so you can splurge a bit if inclined. I didn't see a sign, but the gallery is near the Oloffson and on Rue du Chili near the dead end up a steep hill. My guide had never heard of the gallery, but Google Maps had, so we were able to find it, and Sharona opened up for us—it was a protest day and virtually the whole city was shut down for the march. And she was lovely and fascinating and has created a courtyard of mosaics out back. Her enthusiasm as well as the conversation I had with Richard Morse at the Oloffson made me wish I were part of the PAP arts community. Sharona's father-in-law had originally begun collecting art with the intention of opening a museum. This is really an amazing place, well worth stopping in. See more..

- 4.5 Museum Ogier-Fombrun (153 reviews)
-An Jump Through the time machine
Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Spent < 1 hour History Museums
The Ogier-Fombrun Museum will greet you with stories dating from the pre-colombian indian era to colonial times of 1794, when Haiti used to be the largest producer of sugar in the Caribbean. The property is an authentic sugar cane plantation whose ruins were totally recovered by the work of Architect Gerard Fombrun during more than 35 years of personal involvement. The authentic stone aqueduct which still exists, continues to run water to a gigantic 20 feet wooden wheel which was used to extract the juice from the cane. The "Etuve", which was used to heat up the "melasse", still exists and is reminiscent of a rich past. Airport pick ups, City, town and amazing Caves and fortress tours, in 4 x 4s driven by the most skillful drivers I've known.( Do not think of driving yourself here.)
Excellent recommended Hotels and surprisingly good food.
I found the people of Haiti to be ambitious and kind and gentle, despite the hectic nature of the traffic and especially the roadside markets.
Haiti is not for the faint hearted but certainly worth it with a tour organised by Voyages Lumiere. See more..
- 4.5 Village Artistique de Noailles (26 reviews)
-Worth the trip
Art Museums
Count me among those who consider this a “must see” place in Haiti. Yes, every vendor will want to show you their wares, but it’s worth seeing. I had custom names done by one of the artists, and I couldn’t be happier. I’d be there weekly if we lived closer! See more..

- 4.5 Kokoye Beach (19 reviews)
-Kokoye (or "Cocoyer") Beach
Beaches
Haiti has some nice beaches, but kokoye is really something else. It's not easy to get to, but well with the trip. Being in the bay, the water is calm year around, and unlike beaches near PaP, the water is crystal clear and the sand is white. To get here, you have to exit the national highway right between the cities of Petit Goave and Miragoane. Another 20 minutes up rock and dirt roads until the road ends, to a small community called Trol Chouchou, and then it's a 45 minute hike down the mountain. Everyone in this area knows the beach, so you can always ask for directions! Unhealthy, older, or overweight need not apply, this is a very difficult trip. Boats can be arranged from Petit Goave or Grand Goave, but they are very pricy. The beach is maintained by locals, and they'll charge you a couple dollars to come on. Sometimes they'll have beverages and food, especially on Sunday in the summer when the beach practically turns into an NGO camp. Come any other day or in any over season and you'll have the whole place to yourself. It's a popular camping destination, too. The beach used to have a hotel that catered to wealthy Americans, but now all that is left is the ruins of the pool and a few other ruins. There's great snorkeling, and bright bioluminescence when there's no moon, especially where the mangroves are. If you want a bit of an adrenalin rush, there's a cave on the east end of the beach, but you need to go under water to get inside. There's plenty of fresh water taps up the path from the beach (rare in Haiti), but while it's a spring fed tap, bring chlorine tablets just in case. See more..
- 4.5 Comite Artisanal Haitien (12 reviews)
-Haitian Arts & Crafts Co-op
Spent < 1 hour Speciality & Gift Shops
If you are looking for Haitian arts & crafts while in Port au Prince, this is the place to go. Buying directly from artisans, CAH is able to support artists but sell goods at very reasonable prices to the public. Everything from stone sculpture to painting to metal work is here in one place. Buy one-of-a kind art or gifts for less than you would almost anywhere else. Helpful staff carefully wraps your purchases so they are safe for travel. Been here three times and nothing has ever been damaged after traveling home to the U.S. You will not find fine art here nor the work of Einstein Albert but a great variety of Haitian arts & crafts. See more..
- 4.5 The Bureau of Ethnology (4 reviews)
-Thank you Errol!

This is a special museum with a curator that knows his history. I felt privileged to enter the space, and will never forget it. See more..
- 4.5 Parc de Martissant (2 reviews)
-Good place to go with the kids
Spent 2-3 hours Parks • Gardens
It is amazing to have such a lovely park in the middle of Martissant. I recommend this place for expats who need something new to do, especially if they have kids. It's large enough to walk around and there are lots of amazing trees (shade). Maybe bring some sandwiches for lunch. Not sure it qualifies as a tourist destination though. See more..

- 4.0 Fort Jacques (23 reviews)
-Beautiful view, heritage, pure Haiti
Points of Interest & Landmarks
If you visit Haiti as a westerner, you will stick out. Especially if you decide to leave an orphanage you're volunteering at to go for a walk. Our walk ended up taking a couple hours and we ended up (with local friends who joined us), at Fort Jacques. It was pure Haiti, laced with beautiful farmlands and even a non-Government appointed tour guide who gave us a tour for $1 USD each. There were even people selling food and drinks. The old stone structure was beautiful in its slightly dilapidated state. Please support one of Haiti's only touristy structures by visiting and reviewing it. It really is a jewel in the rough!
