What an amazing adventure! There is so natural and untouched beauty at Les Grottes D’Haiti! If you are in the Les Cayes area it is worth the drive. The trip guide up the mountain and through the caves cost only about 15$ US for three people to tour. This includes hats and flashlights. Prepare with good shoes as you will hike up the mountain for 20 minutes first and then be climbing up rocks. The guide speaks French on this tour and is very knowledgeable. So worth the trip!! This was the best experience I've had during my traveling in Haiti.Climbing these steps meant a lot me,because my mother use to go to Aux Coteau on foot back in the years to trade ,I felt like I owe it to her,and my sons understood that. The site is breath taking.I encourage everyone to visit this place. I always enjoy going there and although it hasn't been raining it was ok... there was a time when the waterfall was just beautiful and now, not sure what is going on... See more..
  7. 4.5 Fort des Anglais (3 reviews)
    - 300-year-old French-built fort
    Ancient Ruins
    Fort des Anglais image
You need to hire a boat, either a dugout canoe or a small motor launch, to visit Fort Anglais. Constructed in 1702 to protect French Haiti from the English in Jamaica, it was overrun by the British in 1748. The fort is in ruins and overgrown with trees and plants; an archeologist could settle in happily for years, but the casual visitor will have a marvelous few hours. Take a picnic; pick up a boat around Fort Olivier on the mainland. Try young but serious guide Jacques Louis at 31803722 if you speak French. See more..

  10. 4.0 Saut-Mathurine (20 reviews)
    - Power of Nature
    Waterfalls
    Saut-Mathurine image
The journey to Saut Mathurine, the biggest waterfall of Haiti, is far from easy. From Les Cayes one has to drive north to Camp Perrin (to Jeremie) and then find the path to the waterfall.....I was lucky...I found someone who was going there with a 4x4....it took me a bit more than two hours each way....travelling with the locals on tap tap may take you one day to go and one day to come back....the car doesn't arrive till the end...there is a 5 minutes walk....and then WOW! So beautiful! So intense! No one around (apart from the usual kids)....the water is not cold...I climbed and jumped with fellow travellers...if you are into nature do try to go there..... See more..

    Beaches
    Gelee Beach image
Les Cayes is the most beautiful town situated in southwest Haiti and it is the capital of the Sud Department. This place has six communes, which include Torbeck, Les Cayes, Maincihe, Camp-Perrin, Île à Vache and Chantal. There are several attractive places where you can visit and spend memorable day with your partner. I and my wife visit Gelee beach so that we can spend some romantic time with each other. It is the longest and well-known beach in Haiti. In the month of August, the beach is full of people as this place is decorated due to fest is going on. There people organize fest for Fete Notre Dame, which include great music fest and many more entertaining programs. There you will watch the performance of famous Konpa Bands that will entertain you. There are numerous restaurants along the beach that serve typical seafood platters. See more..
