  1. 5.0 Gornji Ugao Tower (487 reviews)
    - Gorniji Ugao Tower
Spent < 1 hour Speciality Museums • Observation Decks & Towers • History Museums
    Gornji Ugao Tower image
An excavation on the site of the 'Gornji ugao' tower, in the north-west corner of the walled city of Dubrovnik, in Croatia, uncovered evidence for a foundry established in the second half of the 15th century and largely producing armaments. It is a rare example of this type of industrial site, and its position within the city walls makes it unique. Excavation has provided information on the technical subdivision and spatial logic of the site. Activity at the foundry ceased after the Great Earthquake in 1667, which devastated the entire city, although part of the site continued in use as a foundry, on a smaller and more improvised scale. 3. 4.5 City Harbor (1.610 reviews)
    - Handsome harbor
    Marinas
    City Harbor image
The city harbor is beautiful by day and by night, seen from above (via the city wall walk) or at ground level. You can book a boat tour with any number of operators, and prices seem somewhat negotiable in the low season, as well as where you go on the tour. There are some benches here and there, so have a seat and watch the people stroll by, fisherman get to work, and others enjoy a nice sail on the lovely Adriatic. See more..
  4. 4.5 Ston City Walls (767 reviews)
    - Excellent views, although you need to be properly prepared in terms of water and footwear
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Ston City Walls image
The entry fee is 70 kuna, reduced to 50 kuna, if you have the 3 or 7 day Dubrovnik Pass, so leave this until heading north, if you're starting from Dubrovnik, and are planning to buy the pass in Dubrovnik, as it doesn't seem to be available in Ston. There are two walks you can do, one a short loop, which might take about 20 minutes, and the other, over to Mali Ston, which will take most people perhaps an hour, depending on how hot it is. If you're going to Mali Ston, be sure to take water. It's pretty steep in parts, and there isn't a lot of shelter from the sun, but if you're fit, the views are well worth it. Parking is by the meter in either village, at 8 kuna per hour. I personally thought two hours was sufficient, unless you're planning on eating there. See more..
  5. 4.5 Cavtat Cemetery (754 reviews)
    - Worth the climb
Points of Interest & Landmarks • Cemeteries
    Cavtat Cemetery image
Sits on top of hill in town, but it's definitely worth the hike. This final resting place is peaceful and has amazing views. Mausoleum is beautiful, if you want to enter there's a small fee per person (10kn). See more..
  6. 4.5 Minceta Fortress (524 reviews)
    - Highest Point Of The Dubrovnik Wall
Thursday: 8:00 AM - 7:30 PM Ancient Ruins • Architectural Buildings • Lookouts
    Minceta Fortress image
We went to the top of the Minceta Fortress as part of the wall ticket, and after that we went inside (to the gut of it) as part of the Foundry Museum ticket. This is a different experience and well worth the price of admission. We got different views and go to parts of the wall not accessible with the wall ticket. Buy this ticket at the entry point to the museum and not from 3rd parties as you will pay more. The entrance to the Foundry Museum (Gornji Ugau) is on the highest street within the Old Town and right underneath the Minceta Fort top. See more..
  7. 4.5 Sveti Jakov Beach (495 reviews)
    - Beautiful beach
    Beaches
    Sveti Jakov Beach image
This local favorite isn’t as well-known as Banje Beach, but offers the same splendid views. Tucked in a hidden bay to the east of Dubrovnik Old Town, Sveti Jakov (St. Jacob) Beach is surrounded by majestic cliffs and turquoise waters. The beach is covered with fine pebbles, so water shoes are recommended. A cozy beach bar and restaurant will sate any hunger pangs, and there are also sunbeds and umbrellas available for rent. After a day of snorkeling, diving, or sunbathing, climb a steep staircase to reach the historic Church of St. Jacob, after which the beach is named. – Tripadvisor See more..
  8. 4.5 Kolocep Island (424 reviews)
    - Out of season visit
    Islands
    Kolocep Island image
The island is lovely and recommend you visit..but in October not much opens! The small grocery shop was closed all afternoon. There was only one bar open, which only sells drinks..no food or crisps even. The bar however was lovely set on the waters edge and staff really friendly. We walked by a restaurant on the headland, which was open so possibly an option for lunch, Villa Ruza, but as we did not go there, not sure if its opened all year. We had a really pleasant walk over to the east side of the island passing through shaded olive groves and orchards bounded by old stone walls. Our mobile said that restaurant Gornje Celo was still open, but found it all closed down for winter. We caught the 10am ferry from Dubrovnik port, Gruz bought tickets (about £5 return) from the Jadrolinija office across the street from where you embark. There are couple of ferry back in the afternoon. Our out of season advice would be take food and enjoy drinking at the bar. See more..

  10. 4.0 Pile Gate (2.584 reviews)
    - Entrance into Dubrovnik
Thursday: 12:00 AM - 11:59 PM Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Pile Gate image
This is the main entrance in to the Dubrovnik Old Town. It is very interesting to see the fortification and the size of the massive city walls here and consider that it has been there since 1537. Although it is now gone, you can easily imagine the draw bridge that once was there. There is a statue of St. Blaise there and then great maps of the city layout hung on the wall. This entrance takes you right to the main street of the city, the Stradun. First thing you come to is a great fountain which, like most fountains in the city, is fed by water from the surrounding hills so it is quite pure and you can fill your water bottles from it. 11. 4.0 Onophrian Fountain (1.165 reviews)
    - Large Onofrio’s fountain
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Onophrian Fountain image
It’s a beautiful structure that you wil definitely notice upon entering through the Pile Gate. Walking on Stradun takes you there. The water in this fountain “Large Onofrio’s fountain” is drinkable. Most of the articles or information you’ll find call this place Large Onofrio’s fountain or Big Onofrio’s fountain. It’s apparently named after its creator/designer Onofrio della Cava from Naples. See more..
  12. 4.0 Elafiti Islands (1.083 reviews)
    - 100% domestic & real experiance with a touch of history by our Captain
    Islands
    Elafiti Islands image
We spent an unforgettable day with Denis on board. His great knowledge about Dubrovnik & Elaphiti Islands and their historical significance made this trip even greater than we thought it would be! He presented his city, region and this great trip with pride... Free beer, wine, juices and water should also be mentioned in this story :P As a domestic guest from Zagreb (have on mind that we support two rival clubs) I highly recommend this experiance! :) Enjoy you all! Matija. See more..
  13. 4.0 Rector's Palace (1.017 reviews)
    - Beautiful building, nice art exhibits, only about a 30 minute stop
    Historic Sites • History Museums
    Rector's Palace image
We visited the Rector's Palace because it was free with the Dubrovnik Card, but as it is one of the few more well-known sites in Old Town, we probably would have popped in regardless. It's a really beautiful building that has Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements, due to suffering damage from fires, explosions and an earthquake in the 15th Century and then different architects rebuilding different areas in their own styles. I wasn't really expecting much, other than recognising another Game of Thrones filming location (Season 2 when Daenerys visits the Spice King's mansion), but it had a lot of interesting art and artifacts to look at as well - largely Italian. It's worth a visit, but will probably only take about 30 minutes to see all there is to see. See more..
  14. 4.0 The Franciscan Church and Monastery (870 reviews)
