    - Well organized museum with lots of info
Monday: 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours History Museums
Museum Of Crimes Against Humanity And Genocide 1992-1995 image
The Museum of Crimes Against Humanity and Genocide 1992 – 1995 was founded in July 2016 as an initiative to sustain the memory of all the victims of the war that lasted from 1992- 1995. The founders of the museum themselves are victims who survived the war. Together with young people they have made the museum a reality and keep it working. The museum exhibit contains a variety of photos and personal items that hold the stories of the war victims. The museum staff has given their best to transfer those stories into written pieces that proudly stand next to every item. In order to make the visit more authentic and realistic, the museum presents simulations of a mass grave and solitary confinement. Keeping the memory alive is an important factor in avoiding genocides and massacres in the future. History is something we must remember! See more..

  4. 5.0 Apparition Hill (423 reviews)
    - Another One Off the Bucket List
Spent < 1 hour Mountains • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Religious Sites
    Apparition Hill image
It was a very enlightening experience to witness such dedication among the pilgrims who made the climb up Apparition Hill. Some did it barefoot but I would highly recommend a strong pair of hiking boots as some of the rocks are quite sharp. Everyone does it at their own pace and you pick your own path through the rocks just as you do in life. It obviously is a special place with many of the pilgrims sitting in silent prayer in and around the statue. So many people doing it for their own reasons. Walking sticks are essential for elderly or less able people. The descent can be every bit as difficult as the ascent. See more..
  5. 5.0 il Monte Della Croce (190 reviews)
    - The toughest place to get to!
Spent 2-3 hours Religious Sites • Monuments & Statues
    il Monte Della Croce image
This location is difficult to get to and a certain level of fitness is required. The surface is extremely uneven, comprising of weathered/eroded limestone. As always when climbing, the most dangerous part is the descent. Walking poles are highly recommended and if you dont have them with you make sure you purchase a minimum of one walking stick at the shops near the start of the climb. The stations of the cross on the path to the summit are beautiful. See more..

  7. 4.5 Bascarsija (3.039 reviews)
    - Such a charming, unique place
Spent More than 3 hours Historic Sites
    Bascarsija image
Bascarsija is Sarajevo's old bazaar and the historical and cultural center of the city. Bascarsija was built in the 15th century when Isa-Beg Isakovic founded the town. The word Bascarsija derives from the Turkish language. The word "bas" which is "bas" in Turkish literally means "head", in some contexts however also "primary", "main", "capital" and "carsija" which is "carsi" in Turkish means "bazaar" or "market". Due to the large fire in the 19th century, today Bascarsija is half the size that it once was. Bascarsija is located on the north bank of the river Miljacka, in the municipality of Stari Grad. On Bascarsija there are several important historic buildings, such as the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque and sahat-kula. Today Bascarsija is the major tourist attraction of Sarajevo. See more..

  9. 4.5 Old Bridge Area of the Old City of Mostar (2.312 reviews)
    - Great Day Trip from Dubrovnik
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
Old Bridge Area of the Old City of Mostar image
We had a car rental for three days in Dubrovnik. One day we went to Kotor, another to Mostar, and another to Ston . We both liked Mostar the best. When you go make sure and do a loop - go south a little ways out of Dubrovnik and head up M20 which winds up and over hilly regions which reminded us of Napa valley. This is a future great wine region. Hardly any traffic with quite a few roadside farm stands. Honestly, this part of the drive was scenic and fun. After two hours or so, you get to Mostar. Grab a spot on the road and get a 2 hour parking permit - that’s all you’ll need. Wander along the banks of the river through the alleys. Make sure you go down to the river under the bridge. There is a fantastic artist who paints Mostar scenes on rocks. This guy is talented - perfect souvenir! When it’s time to leave, take the well traveled route back to Neumann, with a stop at Kravice Falls. Perfect day! See more..
  10. 4.5 Kravice Falls (1.685 reviews)
    - Amazing waterfalls and swimming. BUT crowded!
Spent More than 3 hours Waterfalls
    Kravice Falls image
The waterfalls are really impressive and it is a real treat to swim in the lovely, deep, clear water. I can’t imagine you’d be allowed to if this attraction was in the UK. It is popular and at peak times it resembled a Disney Land water park. Heaving at lunchtime. We wandered down the river to the little campsite and it was so peaceful there. You can swim in the river which is so blue and deep. The crowds at the falls start to thin out after 4pm. It became really lovely around 6pm when many people had left. There are restaurants and bars and the locals looked to be arriving later on to go out to eat. Not sure if the waterfalls are lit at night, but certainly the late afternoon was a nice time. 11. 4.5 Blagaj tekija (876 reviews)
    - Mystical atmosphere
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Blagaj tekija image
Stopped here to see the Blagaj Tekke that many people told me to see and I was not disappointed. Admission and parking was fairly inexpensive, and I was greeted when I approached the house by a very nice woman who told me all about it. After taking my shoes off, I took a walk around the house to see all of the different rooms. Afterward, you can take a small bridge across the river for a great photo of the entirety of the house. I had a wonderful time in Vrelo Bosne, it is very quiet, the water is so clean and nature is marvelous there. You can relax and forget all your problems while listening to the sounds of nature. Really Incredible. The restaurant is not the best, but nature compensates everything. Love it!!! See more..
  14. 4.5 Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque (678 reviews)
    - Classical Ottoman architecture
Monday: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Religious Sites
    Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque image
Gazi Husrev-beg's mosque was built in first half of sixteenth century by Gazi Husrev-beg, Bosnian Governor (sandzakbeg) and grandson of Sultan Bajezit II. It is one of the most monumental mosques built in the Ottoman period and is the center of religious life of Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The mosque is the part of vaqf (foundation) established by Gazi Husrev beg, which is still the heart of the old town of Sarajevo. During the Siege of Sarajevo in Bosnian war the vaqf complex was fired by more than thousand grenades but, thanks to its solid structure and two meter thick walls, the mosque survived. After the war it was thoroughly repaired using the original ornaments found on the walls. See more..

  18. 4.5 Crooked Bridge (Kriva Cuprija) (281 reviews)
    - Lovely bridge
    Bridges • Monuments & Statues
    Crooked Bridge (Kriva Cuprija) image
Beside the famous Stari Most (Old Bridge) there is another ancient bridge in Mostar: the Kriva Cuprija (or the Crooked Bridge). Kriva cuprija is a stone one-arch bridge similar to the Stari Most but much more smaller. The floods of December 2000 destroyed this bridge. A reconstruction of Crooked Bridge has been initiated by UNESCO and financed by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The project was completed in the year 2001. Crooked Bridge is located in quiet part of Mostar, there are not many people on it so cross it is more convenient than cross the Old Bridge. See more..
  19. 4.5 The Yellow Fortress (273 reviews)
    - Great views - and nice coffee too
Spent < 1 hour Historic Sites • Points of Interest & Landmarks • Observation Decks & Towers
    The Yellow Fortress image
I viisted during the month of Ramadan when the canons are fired from here at sunset to mark the end of the days fasting. Luckily my apartment in Vratnik was a just a few minutes walk away as of course fortresses tend to be at the top of steep hills, and this one is no exception - you wouldn't have the views otherwise! This is great place though for a breather when exploring this part of town, and undoubtedly the best of the fortresses which adorn this area. The cafe is a nice touch, offering great coffee and other drinks at more than reasonable prices. See more..
  20. 4.5 Ferhadija Pedestrian Street (267 reviews)
    - Pedestrianised bliss
    Points of Interest & Landmarks
    Ferhadija Pedestrian Street image
Starting where Saraci, (Bascarsija, old town), finishes. The architecture of the buildings change dramatically, like from Ottoman through Austro-Hungarian, to modern times, it is a wonderful, pedestrianised walk all the way to the eternal flame, (see review), and back again, we find it that enjoyable, full of street sellers and buskers. Definitely a must for all visitors. See more..
  21. 4.5 Jewish Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina (243 reviews)

  24. 4.5 The historic urban site of Počitelj (199 reviews)
    - Visit Poçitelj twice
    Spent 1-2 hours Neighborhoods
The historic urban site of Počitelj image
Visit it from the bottom and from the top; and consider it separate visits. When you go from the bottom, parking can be difficult, unless you pay a visit to the restaurant that holds most parking spaces. Going up, you can visit the mosques, and hopefully, the Artist Colony House will be open again. Then, in your car or bus you can go to the top of the Kula Fortress, and visit the two watch towers. One of them, called Kulina, is easier to reach, but beware that it has no handrails or walls. On the opposite side, the fortress was renovated with glass floors and some new rooms that seem to have been planned for art exhibitions or cocktails, but now look completely abandoned. This ghost town seems to be frozen in time, mostly in the upper side; downtown looks more lively. See more..
  25. 4.5 Pliva Waterfall (174 reviews)
    - Worth visiting but go to the view point across the river
    Spent < 1 hour Waterfalls
    Pliva Waterfall image
Unique waterfall as it’s located right in the middle of the fortress town of Jajce. If you want the postcard view with the fortress in the background then you’ll need to walk bus past the coach station. Over the road bridge across the river. Follow the road to Sarajevo past the cemetery for about 500 meters. You’ll come a car lay-by where there is a path heading through the woods in the direction you’ve just come from. It’s about a 10 minute walk from the coach station but the view point is free and definitely the best place to see the falls. See more..
  26. 4.5 ARK D-0: Tito's Nuclear Bunker (135 reviews)
    - Unmissable monument to the folly of man.
Monday: 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM Spent 1-2 hours Military Museums
ARK D-0: Tito's Nuclear Bunker image
I had the privilege of being the only guest during a tour with Enida (I hope I have spelt your name correctly). Enida gave me a very comprehensive, wide-ranging, clear and memorable description of all of the issues relating to the bunker. In addition, we had some very interesting discussions about the geopolitical issues during the time of its construction. I arrived quite well-informed and left with a much greater knowledge and understanding. In addition to the “serious history” there is a fascinating, moving, thought-provoking and challenging art exhibition in the bunker—a stroke of genius. Hvala lepa Enida!! See more..
  27. 4.5 Sarajevo Memorial for Children Killed during Siege (131 reviews)
    - Powerful Memorial about cost of war
Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
Sarajevo Memorial for Children Killed during Siege image
This memorial is located near a park and is quite somber. I viewed the main monument as a mother and child together. When you walk over to the part of the memorial where you see the names and age of each child that was killed during the siege it is quite powerful. To see the name of children who were killed from from less than 1 year old and up is emotional. I would recommend everyone take some time at this place and think about the cost of war. See more..
