    Wonderful park!
+ It is a natural park, very clean, and very well maintained. with old trees and many flowers on the island.. It also has a beautiful lake with nice views from all around., and an old bridge. You can take a boat to the lake, or you can borrow a bike. You can walk, you can run, or you can simply rest somewhere. There are several places where to take a drink or an ice cream. Worth a visit. - The zoo is small and poor.

The most beautiful park from Romania
At the initiative of Nicolae P. Romanescu, Craiova's Mayor of that time, the park was designed by French architect Emile Rendont after purchasing the land from Prince George Bibescu. In 1900, the park plans were awarded with gold at the Universal Exhibition in Paris (1900). The construction began in 1901 and was completed in 1903, being inaugurated on September 29. The park's builders have used daring methods for year 1900, there were acclimated hundreds rare species of trees, buildings have been erected such as suspended bridge and the medieval castle, several concrete footbridge that imitate tree bark were crafted. This park is the third largest natural park in Europe and has some very interesting objectives: •The Suspended Bridge - a very old bridge on which one can move, is located above the water, separating two hills. •The Castle - on one of the hills, near the bridge, there is a castle (a former restaurant), now being touristic site. The ruins are very beautiful. The park covers an area of 90 hectares, and the focus point of the park is the lake which has an area of 4 hectares. Also, an old horse racecourse is a part from the park area, lying on 20 hectares near a recently modern velodrome built 10 years ago. Romanescu Park hosts one of the oldest zoos in the country, opened in 1906. The animal collection has started only with a few species: Carpathian bears, deer and peacocks. In the '60 Craiova Zoo was populated with lions, monkeys and ostriches, and after '89, were brought llamas, jaguars, African ostriches and even tigers. This zoo will be modernized in 2014. There are many paths for walking, bicycle and walking dogs. On the lake you can walk to the boats, pedal boats and balloons between April and October/ November. You can eat something simple on the terraces of the park. The park is fabulous throughout the year especially due to the different types of trees.
