4.5Laboe Naval Memorial(551 reviews) - A Memorial to the Lives Lost in Battle at Sea Thursday: 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monuments & Statues
Construction on this memorial began in 1927, as a remembrance of the sailors killed in the first world war. It was completed in 1936 during the Nazi era. Today, it recognizes all sailors who died in both world wars on each side of these conflicts. The views from the observation deck are quite spectacular and highly recommended. I made the dubious decision to take the stairs to the top, because I can get a little leery of heights and got a little winded by the end. But it was very safe. I did decide to take the elevator on the way down. You can visit the memorial for 8€ or the memorial and U-995 for the combined price of 13€ for adults. I recommend taking the ferry to Laboe from Kiel. I picked up the ferry just across from the Hauptbahnhof and it was only ~5€. It was a beautiful journey across the fjord. It is a short walk north from the ferry stop to the memorial along the strand. On the way back, I took a bus back from Laboe Village to Kiel, which was quicker.See more..

4.0Windsbraut(25 reviews) - Great piece of art in the old port Spent < 1 hour Monuments & Statues
Definitely a contrast to the older boats and buildings in the port. Stunning design catches your eye as you walk down the street. Very attractive addition and contrast of old and new in German culture.See more..
We visited this memorial at the same time as our visit to the U-Boat, U-995 is just a 10 minutes drive up the coastline. It's in a beautiful spot overlooking Förde. Well worth the trip if you're in the area.See more..
4.0Asmussen-Woldsen-Denkmal(21 reviews) - Beautiful statue in town square Monuments & Statues • Fountains
Beautiful statue in town's square. At weekend there was a market and artists selling their goods. I am not sure who Tine is, I tried to google but it is all in German. I noticed she is wearing Dutch clogs... If in Husum - definitely worth a visit. Husum is one of the biggest towns in the area, with loads of shops. It is a farming community all around, so a refreshing break to see sights, dine and do some shoppingSee more..
Such a pleasant welcome when you arrive in Westerland. These huuuuge statues just outside the train station. They stand skew presumably to warn visitors that you can expect the wind to blow. Even the lampposts outside the station are standing at an angle. What a fun introduction to your holidaySee more..

4.5St.
See more..
See more..
4.0Niobe Denkmal(5 reviews) - Der Weg ist das Ziel... Spent < 1 hour Points of Interest & Landmarks • Monuments & Statues
See more..
