Do not carry mobile phones etc. but there are people where you can safely deposit your cell phone at INR 10/- per handset. Iskcon NVCC Temple was the first place that we decided to visit in Pune and it was a good decision that we went in the night as the lights dotting the temple were eye pleasing and serene. There is a food court and a lodge as well I believe for visitors to the temple just before we entered the main temple complex . Iskcon Temples are known to be grandeur and this one was no exception. Fountains and Gardens give the place a serenity. Once we were in, it was divine. The idols of all the deities are so beautiful that it will leave one mesmerized. We were on time for Aarti and it was an experience etched in memory. The walls and the roof of the temple has art work of the finest quality. After spending a wonderful time, we decided to grab some snacks at the food court which is when the air was filled with chants of ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’ and we saw a beautiful sight of people dancing to the tunes just being lost and enjoying the moment. A turn off to the right off the Sholapur highway about 52 km from the city of Pune takes one up a well maintained road over a hillock. Friezes and strings of classical carvings adorn the temple internally. There is a plethora of sculptures, pillars and other decorations. A large Nandi bull greets us in front of the shrine. There has however been an a desecration and defacement of images by later rulers which is condemnable.A pair of radiowave towers installed adjacent to the temple are unsightly However the peace and quiet and scenic views from the hilltop overlooking chrysanthemum fields are memorable. The detour and temple visit can take about 2 hours. 4.5Kopeshwar Temple(83 reviews) - An architectural marvel...! Religious Sites
An architectural marvel. People have somehow managed to maintain a very low profile about this place. The route leading this place is just phenomenal. There are fileds, very old structures, villages etc. Most of the idols have been tried to destroy, possibly by the invaders, but this still looks magnificent. This place has a very interesting story. A must visit place. The roads are quite narrow. But there is ample parking space here. This is right next to Krishna river. A treat for photographers. Clicking photographs inside the temple is however prohibited. A must visit place.See more..
