  1. 4.5 Castello Sforzesco (13.5k reviews)
    - Don't Be Dazzled By Duomo And Miss Sforzesco
Monday: Spent 2-3 hours Historic Sites • Castles
    Castello Sforzesco image
This is anything but a run-of-the-mill museum. I walked around the entire castle the day before my visit, eyeing its construction and seeing if there were any good external photo opportunities. There were. The entire day of my visit was spent wandering the internal courtyards, going in and out of different museum collections, and taking time out for a break and lunch onsite. The castle's history is as interesting as the stories of the numerous items it houses today. Castello Sforzesco easily rivals Duomo di Milano as a destination on any tourist's Milano itinerary. It has such a wide variety of exhibits that almost anyone will find something of interest, unlike is often the case with a museum dedicated to a specific topic. See more..
  2. 4.5 Castello Scaligero (4.682 reviews)
    - Stunning Views from the Keep
    Spent 1-2 hours Castles
    Castello Scaligero image
From the outside the castle is the centre piece of Sirmione. It is lovely to walk around and so we decided to go in. We went along quite early in the morning and there wasn't any queue when we went in. There is not much of note inside the castle and the information boards are mainly about the structure of the castle and the rebuild and not really much about the history. What is worth it though is the stunning views from the top. Not only do you have fantastic views over Lake Garda but also you really see the peninsula. We went to the castle after we had boated around Lake Garda so we could also point out different places we had been. wow just wow for the views. The climb is not for anyone that cannot climb and decent a mountain of stairs though. See more..

    Castello di Vezio image
This is well worth the walk. We were planning our route on google maps and then when we arrived at Varenna saw a map which showed a small path that takes you right to the Castello Di Vezio and that was much faster than the way google maps was suggesting. There was a small fee to get into the castle area but it was so worth it and I recommend everyone to go up here if they are in Varenna. The view is simply magnificent. See more..
  5. 4.5 Rocca di Angera (1.039 reviews)
    - Fantastic Castle
Monday: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM Spent 2-3 hours Castles
    Rocca di Angera image
The Angera Fortress stands majestically on a spur of rock that dominates the southern shore of Lake Maggiore, on the Lombardy side. Placed in a strategic position for the oversight of movement and trade, this property initially belonged to the Visconti family and was bought by the Borromeos in 1449. It is now the perfectly harmonious result of five different buildings: the tower, or Torre Castellana, the Scaligera wing, the Viscontea wing, the Giovanni Visconti tower, the Borromeo wing. The hall of Justice is a surprising room, entirely frescoed shortly after the battle of Desio in 1277 by "Maestro di Angera", where human affairs are related to astrological influences. Founded in 1988 by Princess Bona Borromeo Arese, the Museum of Dolls and Toys shows more than one thousand pieces among dolls and toys crafted since XVIII. Outdoors, next to the ancient church, is the Medieval Garden: medicinal plants grow next to ornamental plants. See more..

In the heart of Serio Park, where the time seems stopped in the XV century, there is the Malpaga Castle. It has ancient medieval origins: it was built in 1300 but it became famous only in the 1456 thanks to his owner Bartolomeo Colleoni, the General Captain of the Venice Republic. Castellaro Lagusello image
Small and amazing village on the state route to Lake Garda, coming from Mantua. It's a fraction of Monzambano. It's one of the best villages of Italy according to the World Heritage. We visited the village on a Tuesday morning of October, nice and sunny day. Amazing walk from the car park to the castle on the top. Full of nice houses or corners, nice osterias, beautiful view of the lake from the top. We couldn't visit the castle and gardens from inside because we needed to book in advance. It wasn't busy, the village and castle were built in the 12th and 13th century, amazing buildings, all together for an amazing hour walking. Absolutely recommended!!! See more..

    Rocca di Solferino image
At the top of the highest hill in Solferino lies a majestic building 23 meters high dating back to 1022. This hill was contended by the Austrians and the French Army that was allied with the Piedmontese Army during the battle of June 24th 1859. Defined as “The spy of Italy” due to its strategic location, this fortress is surrounded by a vast park. Relics discovered on the battle field are preserved inside this fortress, which was acquired and restored by the Association. Moreover, documents relating to the history of the Fortress and of the Mint of Gonzaga in Solferino are displayed inside and along the wooden stairs that lead to the panoramic terrace. Before getting to the terrace a large room opens up and here we can find portraits of Victor Emmanuel II and Napoleone III and for this reason it is named “The Sovereigns’ Room”. From the Fortress terrace you can enjoy the gorgeous panorama of the verdant countryside that lays beneath and admire, from a distance, the Tower of San Martin See more..

    Castello Dal Verme image
Entirely stone-made, with walls up to 4 metres thick, the Castle of Zavattarello is a titanic building, an astonishing medieval fortress that resisted numerous sieges. From the terrace and the tower you can see a breathtaking panorama of all the surrounding land: green fields, deep woods, high mountains and low hills with other castles - Montalto Pavese, Valverde, Torre degli Alberi, Pietragavina. From here, you can understand well why they decided to build this stronghold here, in such a strategic place. The solid fortress overlooks the ancient village clinging to the hill, that once was without trees to allow the castle defenders a better control against enemies. Now, instead, the wood surrounding the building is a protected area, a 79 hectares park.We invite you to come and discover the beauty and the history, the art and the architecture, the past and the future of this fully restored medieval castle. Events, ceremonies, exhibitions, parties, conferences make these rooms alive, where ancient and modern merge, creating a unique emotional twine. See more..

Ci siamo sposati qui il 09/06/2018 siamo di Milano e nonostante la distanza (1:15) abbiamo scelto questo castello per il ricevimento del nostro matrimonio.
Location spettacolare, magica e romantica.
