Historic palace

A relative of the Sultanate was all too eager to explain the history and the lineage of the Sultan, said to be the 33rd descendant of the Prophet. The place should be maintained and cleaned...very dusty! Beware of touts waiting to earn money for taking care of your shoes, for parking, for taking your photos etc.

    Home to Equatorial Royalty
There are at least a couple of dozen different palaces from various vanished sultanates which are scattered around the Indonesian archipelago. Keraton Madriah, a 200 year old ironwood palace, is far from one of the better known, but it is an attractive, time-weathered old building which has an attractive position near the river front. You should check it out if you are passing through this neck of the woods.

    Run down...
The place has its historic value and the exodus of the yemeni people and administration in Pontianak and its vicinity. The Sultan is still in place to safeguard the sultanate. But what a pity its run down.
